Reminiscing about my time in Japan during the month of November last year. Can’t believe it’s been one year. What a total dream it was to be in Kyoto during the peak fall colors. I’m missing the complete attention to detail and beauty, the extraordinary gardens, the incredible flavors of persimmon, yuzu, herbs, rice and pizza dough. The humble, simple perfection of Kyoto and monk!

High praise for Nonfiction’s own Bing Liu on the A24 Podcast as author and poet Ocean Vuong discusses Bing adapting for the screen and directing his novel On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous.

“Bing is a genius in himself. That was the beauty of it… that invitation to play. To play and to bring Bing’s larger, expansive political gaze behind the camera was really exciting to me. So it’s really great also because we just talk almost every three, four weeks, we just talk about our lives and our theories on narrative art and our politics. And it’s been really incredible.”

Bing brings his fresh visual aesthetic and rich storytelling to docu, narrative, spots and branded.

Our Story

Nonfiction Unlimited is a commercial production company producing spots and branded with some of the most notable documentary directors on the planet.

We’re all about bringing the filmmaker’s creative talents to nonfiction and scripted projects alike and a holistic approach that informs the work from casting, to production, to post.

Our collective personality is unlike any other production company in the world. We began, in 1995, with one idea: a roster of elite award-winning documentary directors supported by an innovative production staff, formed in order to take a revolutionary approach to commercial documentary projects. In the years since, Nonfiction’s directors have created uniquely compelling commercials, complex branding campaigns, episodic series, branded content, narrative features and, of course, creative documentaries.

The filmmakers at Nonfiction are undisputedly some of the most respected documentary filmmakers in the world. And Nonfiction is the premiere production company bringing their considerable talents to projects for advertisers.
