🧐 Where's the best kouign amann in Wine Country? This one is from a new bakery in Santa Rosa. I'll tell you where on Sunday.

And by the way, it's okay to be a little kneady sometimes.

What's your take on tipping? Are you so over it, or is it a necessary part of dining out?

I need everyone's help -- looking for offbeat happy hours in Sonoma County. Don't need the usual suspects (ie: Starks, Jacksons), but lesser known things. Doesn't have to include cocktails.

This delightful cocktail is from Buck's Place (not happy hour) -- a classic daiquiri

As we all watch the LA first in horror, it's hard not to flash back to 2017, 2019 and 2020 when Sonoma County faced our own tragedies. Chefs are now reaching out to me (and I to them) about how we can help, and I hope to have some answers soon. The truth is that the needs are often greatest when the smoke clears and the emergency responders leave. If you want to do something, please donate locally -- I am putting together a list today of restaurateurs doing emergency work in LA.

I want to also reach out to all of the Sonoma Family Meal crew -- the amazing chefs, farmers, volunteers and family members who came together to create Sonoma Family Meal in 2017. We are a special and unique community who found each other in the darkest moments of our history.

Love and light to all.

Great story by John Beck about the closure of a 101-year-old dairy.

"For now, Mulas plans to keep the dozen or so large barns standing on the property, while selling off old equipment to much larger dairies in the Central Valley. The irony he says, is that Sonoma County residents may one day buy all their milk from massive Central Valley dairies — the industrial CAFOs that environmental groups are cracking down on."

The closure was a blow for the well-known Mulas family of Schellville and another contraction for Sonoma County’s embattled dairy industry.
