2024 Reflections

🌺 Being a Traditional Fijian Woman in a Modern World 🌺

As a proud Fijian woman, I’ve learned that you can honor our rich traditions, embody the values of our culture, and still find your own voice in today’s world. Being traditional doesn’t mean being silent or limited. It means carrying forward the wisdom, grace, and respect our ancestors taught us, while embracing the opportunities and progress that surround us.

We can honor our vanua (land and community), be the backbone of our families, and stand firm in our cultural identity—yet still pursue our passions, share our ideas, and build a better future for ourselves and our children. Tradition and progress aren’t opposites; they can coexist beautifully.

You can:
🌺 Speak your truth with humility and respect.
🌺 Embrace education, leadership, or entrepreneurship while staying rooted in Fijian values.
🌺 Support others and empower yourself without crossing cultural boundaries.
🌺 Build a bridge between the wisdom of our elders and the dreams of the younger generation.

It’s not about abandoning tradition; it’s about evolving with it. You can be a voice of change and still carry the heart of a Fijian woman—strong, nurturing, respectful, and full of love for everyone.

Let’s celebrate our culture and show the world that we can lead with kindness, live with purpose, and shine with the strength of our ancestors. 🌺❤️

E vica na ka au sa dau dikeva tiko mai vakamalua, kau vakabauta ni na vinaka meda wasea. Oqo na kena sa veisautaki tiko vakamalua na:

1. Na nodai sulusulu
2. Na meke
3. Na sere vaka Viti

E tiko tale e vica na ka. Ia, e vica madaga oqo, eda sa raica tu e matana votu, ena vei soqo lelevu/ lalai, kei na veivanua tale eso.

Na kena sa veisautaki tiko na 3 na ka oqo. Nida rai yani, e dua na ka na kena totoka ni veisau e sa vakayacori tiko qo, baleta ni sa veisau tiko ka toso tiko vata keina gauna, iya, e dua na ka me nanumi tiko, ni oqo e dua talega na gaunisala ni kena sa na seavu tiko yani vakamalua, nai tovo dina ni veika vaka oqo.

Au vakabauta ena vinaka, meda dau raica vaka titobu na veisau eda vakayacora. Meda kakua ni kauta mai na veisau ka me vakayalia yani na veika vaka oqo. Na veika keimami kilai tani kina na kawa Itaukei.

Meda kila, na veisau cava e vinaka vei keda, na veisau cava me vakayacori, kei na gauna cava meda dau vakayacora kina na veisau.
