I was sorry to miss the San Francisco event today honoring Jim Marshall with a street naming on his block. I saw Jim a lot in SF during the 90s and I think he rubbed off on me a bit! This was taken at my first solo photography show in October.

2018 Big Table Farm Elusive Queen Chardonnay is in a very nice place with honey-textured citrus, pear and toasted baguette. Willamette Chardonnay age beautifully.

Pulled from the bottom shelf tonight ahead of a day off. Vibrant and complex. The cork was a little dry though the wine was superb.

As the work with photographing artists is an expansion of my original portrait sessions with winemakers I decided to dig into my archive of back issues and bring to the exhibition today to offer historical perspective on the arc of what I do. Showing guests through the issues was gratifying to hear their comments as well as for me to see the images with fresh eyes and accept that my work is OK.

My first solo photography exhibition is in the books and I think it was a success! The Residency is keeping the remaining unsold portraits on display for a while if anyone wants to make an appointment to view them. I got almost as many comments about my Bell’s Sardine shirt as I did the art on the wall. Thanks again to Margo and Martine at Chalk Hill Artist Residency for the space and consultation. Looking forward to 2026.
