For TBT, I thought I'd share my campaign literature from more than 50 years ago, when I ran for student council at Pierce JC. Some of the points are very specific to my college, but some of it may be general enough to be entertaining. -- Candidates were allowed to go into classrooms to make campaign speeches. I would go in dressed in a blazer and tie and give the F.L.A.G. speech. Then I'd take off the coat and tie, reveal a tie-dyed shirt and slip on a black armband, then give the Free Love And Grass speech. -- It was basically just political performance art, and it was a kick. -- I did not win. At the time, the fraternities and sororities were the power brokers at school, and their candidates almost always won.
