A long-time downtown Sarasota, FL restaurant is closing.

According to a social media post, Element: Steak Seafood Pasta has lost their lease and will be closing in about two weeks.

Originally opened as Element PBnT with an upscale side and a fast casual pizza, burgers & tacos side, the downtown dining spot later became the more upscale bar and restaurant serving Main Street diners today. B

Element has announced they hope to find a new location to reopen.

Their final day is April 26.

The previously closed Cuba 1958 on Main Street, which had announced plans to reopen, has now been taken over by Mademoiselle Paris. They tell us they plan to open within the next two months at the new location. The increase in seating will allow them to have a full bar and offer a more extensive menu.

Congratulations to Hanami Sushi Cocktails & Grill in downtown Sarasota, FL. After more than a year of renovations, they're finally open.
They documented lots of the extensive renovations of the 100 year old building on their page.

The new location of Bruschetta Mediterranean Cuisine is opening tomorrow. Marco has created a new dining room in the former Tipsy Tavern location on Gateway Drive in Gulf Gate. Call for reservations which are available for the 5:00 pm opening.
Fans of Marco's Italian and Mediterranean cuisine will be happy to see their favorite dishes on the menu at this new location.

A Bradenton based restaurant is opening a second location in Osprey, FL.

Five Nine Grill & Tavern is going to open in the former Bay Leaf space in Blackburn Point Plaza. The restaurant offers American comfort food, seafood, steaks, craft burgers, and more. Plans are for a full bar and seating for 120.

According to the owner, the dining room will be completely redesigned with an opening planned for late June or early July. The Bradenton restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner and offers a weekend brunch menu. The same is planned for the Osprey location.

Today is the day it seems lots of Sarasota, FL restaurants have added corned beef and cabbage to their menu. It doesn't matter if they're normally a seafood, Italian or other specialty cuisine, it's a day for boiled meat and green beer. Some are also offering various recipes of steak and Guinness pie.

Indeed, prices vary widely as well. Facebook posts advertising the annual menu vary from the mid teens to one fine dining spot offering two courses for more than $40.

Another Sarasota, FL restaurant closing.

Speaks Clam Bar has announced they are closing their St. Armands location after tonight (Sunday). The restaurant opened in 2019 after extensive renovations to the building that had been a variety of Sarasota restaurants over several decades.
While the Sarasota location was being renovated, they opened a location in Lakewood Ranch, which will remain open.

No word yet on plans for the St. Armands Circle location.

Today (Friday 3/6/25) is the penultimate day for Circo SRQ. The downtown Sarasota, FL tacos and tequila restaurant opened at the end of 2019 as part of the late Tableseide restaurant group that formerly owned Libby's.

Diners and drinkers may find certain menu items unavailable as they wind down operations. There were BOGO happy hour margaritas on tap available today. No guarantees for the last day, tomorrow.

Congratulations to Duff's Famous Wings Sarasota that is now open on Clark Road in the former Chianti restaurant space. The New York based wing restaurant is currently open 3 - 10 with limited seating during their soft opening period.

Plans are to expand the hours to include lunch. In addition to Buffalo wings with sauces running from Mild to a spicy mixture called Death, the restaurant also offers 7 other flavors and dry rubs. Some of the flavors carry a $1.00 upcharge. The menu also offers salads, wraps, burgers, and sandwiches. A kid's menu is also available.

Good luck to the new The Island Chick-N-Shack in Venice, FL. Now open on Tamiami Trail on Venice Island. We have posted the menu on our group page Restaurants In Sarasota. All seating is at picnic tables outside. Open Monday - Saturday for lunch.

A few Sarasota FL restaurants have closed.
Update: Cuba 1958 has now posted they will reopen. Apparently this may be part of a dispute between the owners.
Previously: Cuba 1958 on Main Street downtown Sarasota closed their doors. We had reached out to them last week about the impending closure and did not receive a reply.

In Gulf Gate, ICYMI, Cafe Divan, the coffee shop and bakery that was owned by the nearby similarly named Turkish restaurant, has closed.
Also, Perfect Bowls, the Asian restaurant that took over the original Screaming Goat location is gone. It took them quite a while to open and never seemed to quite get their footing.
