Another new restaurant at The Landings opening next Friday.

The second Sarasota location for Pura Vida Miami is planned for December 19. As you may recall, the new restaurant was built on the site of the former Sweet Tomatoes at Shop The Landings. According to the restaurant, it offers all-day breakfast, including, "artisanal coffee, matcha drinks, and teas; clean chef-driven Salads customizable with high-quality proteins of your choice, alongside colorful wraps & sandwiches."

Prices for most sandwiches are in the mid to upper teens. A bowl with spicy tuna or salmon is in the mid $20's. A toasted chicken wrap with antibiotic-free chicken, cilantro jasmine rice, sweet bell pepper, mozzarella, avocado is $18.95. From the all-day breakfast menu, a veggie omelet with pasture-raised whole eggs, scallions, bell pepper, mozzarella, and spinach, served with avocado smash, toasted sourdough, arugula and a bagel is $16.95.

Hours at the S. Tamiami Trail restaurant are expected to be daily 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM.

A recently closed restaurant may be returning to St. Armands Circle.

According to City of Sarasota, records, the former Shore St. Armands is seeking permits to reopen on Boulevard of the Presidents. We're awaiting a reply from the restaurant regarding their preliminary application to open in what appears to be several storefronts that formerly housed Madison Ave Deli, Ancient Olive, and Candy Barrel. All three businesses closed after last year's hurricanes.

As you may recall, Shore sold their John Ringling Blvd spot to Tommy Bahama.

We're awaiting a reply from Shore and will update when we learn more. They never removed the former St. Armands location from their website.

No more KFC apparently in Sarasota.
According to reports from readers, all the signage has been removed and the KFC at 3780 Bee Ridge Rd. has closed. It is still listed on the KFC website with hours, although all online ordering shows it unavailable. The only permit listed for the address by Sarasota County Government was for a recent "Emergency Grease Trap Replacement."

We have reached out to KFC for an update on the status of that location. We will update this if we learn anything new.

The new Mr. & Mrs. Crab Sarasota will be opening this weekend. The restaurant offers what they describe as a Louisiana seafood boil with an Asian twist.

The Square South (8389 S. Tamiami Trail) shopping center building last housed a Mexican restaurant but may be best known as the location of long-time local favorite J. Ryan.

They will be opening at Noon on December 6, which will be their normal daily opening hour going forward.

A recently closed sandwich spot makes a part-time return to Sarasota, FL.

Capo Pazzo Pizzeria has brought Eddie Faicco on board to offer some of his NYC hero sandwiches to their lunch menu. Eddie's Bleeker Street restaurant sandwiches will be served starting tomorrow with one of his specialty sandwiches added to the lunch menu from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM. The one sandwich Monday will be the chicken cutlet/pesto.
According to a social media post, depending on the popularity of the new addition they will explore expanding the lunch menu offerings.

The Masō dining steak & seafood attached to DoughBoy Swift is holding a soft opening yesterday and today (Saturday). The new offering from the folks at Dive Wine & Spirits is in the location of the former Puccini's.

Look for a completely reimagined interior, including a speakeasy bar. Lots of new period furniture, window treatments, and a separate menu of small plates for the new lounge area.

A Sarasota, FL Panera Bread location has apparently closed.

The Panera location at Midtown Plaza on South Tamiami Trail is closed. While the voicemail for the fast casual restaurant on the corner of Bahia Vista St. says it's temporarily closed, it has been removed from the company's website and has apparently even canceled the restaurant license that was not going to expire until December 1.

Panera Bread yesterday announced a new plan called "Panera RISE" which, "... is focused on four strategic pillars: Refreshing the menu, Igniting value, Serving our guests with excellence, and Expanding our network." According to yesterday's press release, “Over the past year we have made considerable progress in strengthening our foundation to better serve our guests. Panera RISE is a momentum driver, grounded in the areas of differentiation that have made Panera an iconic brand for nearly 40 years,” said Paul Carbone, Chief Executive Officer, Panera Bread.

So far, there are no permit applications on file for the City of Sarasota location that might indicate a new tenant coming in to replace it. The other Sarasota area Panera Bread locations remain open.

A new sandwich restaurant is now open in Sarasota's Waterside Place.

Carved Crafted Sandwiches held a soft opening starting yesterday. The new restaurant offers hot and cold sandwiches, salads, bowls, soups, beer and wine. A kids menu is also available.
We haven't seen a menu with prices, yet.

Big changes at a Sarasota, FL live music and brewery venue.

The owners of The Parrot Patio Bar & Grill have taken over Big Top Live . The former C**k & Bull has been sold and is becoming The Parrot Live. According to Jeff Gambino, who owns The Parrot along with his wife Melanie, they plan on reopening the kitchen at the property and will be bringing a slightly limited version of their Parrot menu to the Cattlemen Road live music venue. Jeff also tells us he plans to build a large tiki shade structure over the back patio and a new stage. In addition to continuing to offer a lot of the Big Top Brewing Company beers, along with other beer and wine choices, they will have a full liquor license. Patrons can also expect to see changes to the landscape and some new paint and building repairs, while keeping the old Florida style and charm of the long-time Sarasota bar and restaurant.

Jeff asked us to assure everyone with tickets to upcoming shows that all currently scheduled events will be happening as planned and all tickets will be honored. He says they also plan to expand the amount of live music there. Look for a schedule of events and bands coming soon.

An Italian restaurant has closed and a former Southside Village chef centered business is going to reopen there.

Two Chefs Market & Bistro, which was formerly Two Chefs on Hillview, will be opening in the recently closed La Locanda di Diego space. Chef owners Frank Imbarlina and Mellissa Louty are bringing their concept to the South Trail after having to close their Southside Village location about a year and a half ago.

In addition to the market items to go that they were known for, such as charcuterie, Bootsy's pot pies, and catering, the new location will offer full-service breakfast and lunch dining along with monthly wine dinners. They are also looking at the possibility of jazz brunches and other innovative dining events.
