I’m Cee Cee, along my self-discovery journey I began to observe, and take note of a new feeling associated with the word, “awaken”. For me, to “Be Awaykenned” is to embark on a transformative journey intentionally using our “senses”, breaking away from traditional notions of being “awakened.” From this emotional thought, and my morning routine coffee session with Paige; our brand was born. :). You see, the word Awaykenned is intentionally spelled this way to signify a unique and profound process that cannot be confined to the conventional understanding of awakening. It highlights that the experience is entirely new, untouched, and undiscovered. Perhaps, when we think of "awakened," we may envision a state of enlightenment or awareness that has been spoken about and pursued for generations. It captures the realization that the depth of what is happening internally is unprecedented. There’s no established roadmap, no prior definitions that truly reflect this emerging consciousness. The known spelling of the word awakened no longer applies, because the experience with our hand-crafted products and services cannot be bound by the rules of the past but embraced with opportunity within the present! You are not merely just awake—you are navigating the unknown dimensions of yourself and the world around you, using your “senses” to guide you. The “Awaykenned” process challenges you to become a pioneer in your own life, one who discovers new emotional, mental, and spiritual landscapes. Living a life of inspiration. Inspiration is the fuel for growth, change, and creativity. When you live inspired, you are connected to a source of energy that not only uplifts you but also empowers those around you. It’s about being attuned to what sparks joy, curiosity, and passion within you, and allowing that spark to guide your actions. It is a deliberate choice to live with open eyes and an open heart, recognizing the beauty and possibilities that exist in every situation, no matter how mundane or challenging. In a world that often pushes us toward distraction and disconnection, living consciously and with inspiration brings us back to ourselves. It reminds us that we are not passive observers in our lives—we are active creators, capable of shaping our reality with every thought, word, and action. Through this practice, we are Awaykenned to our true potential, crafting a life that reflects the limitless possibilities within us.

COMMUNITY N RHYTHM
August 2 • Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center

On August 2, I had the pleasure of hosting a beautifully special afternoon at Fogartyville in honor of Melanie A Lavender Lavender, and I’m still carrying pieces of it with me. Hosting gave me a front-row seat to something really beautiful: community showing up for community.

Artists, small businesses, and friends donated their work, services, products, and experiences to the silent auction—not simply to fill a table, but to pour something of themselves into the evening. kept us loved on with some delicious light bites, and the performers… whew. Amazingly talented. Every single one brought something different into the room, and I genuinely enjoyed introducing, witnessing, and celebrating each offering. Whole vibes....💓

This clip is from my spoken-word performance alongside percussionist . There is something about poetry meeting rhythm that lets the words breathe differently.

What I remember most about the evening, though, is the spirit of it.

People came together.
People gave.
People laughed.
People listened.
People shared.
People showed love.

Mel, I hope you know what a beautiful reflection of your life it was to see so many people willing to bring their gifts into one space and place them beside you.

And to everyone who contributed, performed, donated, attended, worked behind the scenes, trusted me to help guide the evening, encouraged somebody, bid on something, shared a smile, or simply brought dope energy into the room—thank you.

Community is still one of the most beautifulest things we have. May we continue to show up for one another with grace, generosity, and love. 🤎

✨You know, there was something special about gathering in the garden—sharing food, conversation, questions, laughter, and space with the very community this moment was meant to serve.

Thank you, Newtown (District 1), for welcoming us.

Thank you to CocoRootz for opening "The Garden", sharing the watermelon harvest with the community, and reminding us how much can grow when people are given space to gather. And somehow, great northern beans in the garden just made sense. lol. Thank you, Mrs. Shirley Shaw, for keeping us informed on how important voting is and how to make our vote/voice count.

We are also grateful to the Jimmy Glover For Sarasota School Board Campaign, for the work they continue to pour into the community and for trusting Aloe Thoughts Media to facilitate an honest conversation between the people and Jimmy, our special guest.

To everyone who came, asked a question, listened, shared, ate, laughed, or simply sat with us—thank you.

This was more than an event. It was community making room for itself. 🫱🏾‍🫲🏿🥰

As we close out this year's Summer Enrichment Workshop - Thursday, July 9th, 2026, we extend our sincere gratitude to the Leadership of the Future Students, Precious Jewels Learning Centers, Inc., Star Lab and community collaboration with the Leonard Reid House, who welcomed Be Awaykenned: Paper Trails – A Community Storytelling & Zine Making Experience into their learning journey.

As CeeCee read Change Sings by Amanda Gorman, students were invited to listen with curiosity and observe the journey of the story's main character. Building on those observations, they completed their own Paper Trails zine activity that encouraged them to use their own senses to reflect, create, and recognize that every voice, every perspective, and every story contributes to the world around us.

Thank you for creating, imagining, asking questions, and leaving your own paper trails throughout the summer. We hope this experience encourages you to continue paying attention to the everyday moments that inspire change, strengthen community, and become part of the stories only you can tell.
