“SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - A 54-year-old from Naples is recovering this morning after a collision just before 6 a.m.

Both vehicles were northbound on I-75 when the vehicle in the rear slammed into the lead car. Both cars pulled off onto the pavement side of the road, but after a brief conversation, the driver of the lead car sped off. He is described as a black male in a gray BMW sedan with front damage.

Florida Highway Patrol says that anybody with information should contact Crimestoppers.”

“SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Sarasota County deputies recovered the body of a local golfer this morning at Lakeview Park.

Witnesses say the man, nicknamed E.T., came to the park to golf every week. The exact circumstances of how he ended up in the pond are unclear, and this remains an active investigation.

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Two suspected car burglars are now in custody after a bouncer at the Beach Club saw them breaking into his car and rushed to stop them, according to deputies.

Jackie Garvin III was at work on Aug. 24 when he happened to look out and see two people inside his car. He went to confront the two, pinning Anthony Aquilera-Diaz to the ground until deputies arrived. Another employee was able to bring back Edson Hernandez, and Garvin was then able to identify Edson as the man in the passenger seat, while Aquilera-Diaz sat in the driver’s seat.

Security cameras confirmed the story--Aquilera-Diaz got in through the front driver-side door. Hernandez saw him inside while walking past, and so got in through the passenger door.

Both men have been charged with burglary.

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - One Sarasota man is now in custody after allegedly selling fentanyl to an undercover detective.

At about 4:30 on July 23, undercover operatives recorded Carvous Lewis attempting to sell .2 grams of purple fentanyl in exchange for $20--all within 1000 feet of Martin Luther King, Jr. Park.

Lewis drove to and from the drug deal using a license that was suspended in 2017, resulting in an additional charge.
