Our first New Issues for 2021. Two early pieces from 1915/1916 by Igor Stravinsky (Public Domain USA). "Cats" is arranged for oboe and 3 bassoons (original canto and 3 clarinets) and "Three Pieces" is arranged for 6 bassoons and contrabassoon (original piano 4-hands)! Both are very idiomatic Stravinsky.

Three new, outstanding, and stylistically different compositions by John Steinmetz, Damian Montano, and Pauline Viardot (arr Billy Short) will be premiered at the 2021 Meg Quigley Vivaldi Symposium in January. Solo bassoon (Steinmetz), Oboe, Bassoon, & Piano Trio (Montano), and Bassoon Quartet (Viardot/Short) are recently published by TMP and will be available from music dealers worldwide by January 1st, 2021. All three are great additions to the double reed repertoire.

Two New Issues from Mathieu Lussier just in time for the holidays! Artemis is scored for a somewhat unique but cool pairing of English Horn and Bassoon, and the Deux Duos, for Bassoon and Cello, is a great complement to a recital that might include the Mozart of a similar instrumentation. I am very pleased to introduce 2 New Issues. They are quite different yet equally entertaining. The Kuchler (1738-1790) Bassoon Concerto in Bb, recently rediscovered and engraved by Kristian Oma Ronnes, is a forgotten gem of the classical period, very much in the style of Mozart and Hummel. It is available in two editions: Bassoon and Piano & Bassoon and Orchestra. And then there is one of my all-time favorites, Rossini's Duetto (for Cello and Bass). The string writing was always problematic for bassoonists and contrabassoonists who wanted to "borrow" it, but as a Bassoon Trio it works GREAT! Also transposed from the original D Major to a more-friendly bassoon key of C Major. Other recent New Issues include a Bassoon Concerto by Rollig, the three Reichenauer Bassoon Concerti for Bassoon, and the re-discovered Adagio and Polonaise by Zinkeisen for solo Oboe in both piano and orchestra editions. We have been busy!

And here is the newest edition, RV 467 (F8 #18). This C Major Concerto is rather unique! I think Vivaldi had one too many glasses of wine when he wrote it!
