Josh Woosley talks about how deep addiction can keep you trapped—even when the consequences around you become impossible to ignore.

A man he knew from Brooklyn beat Josh’s friend to death with a hammer, and the story made the news.

You would think something that horrific would be enough to make someone walk away from that life.

But addiction doesn’t always work that way.

Josh was still stuck in the cycle, still surrounded by the same lifestyle, and still unable to simply run from it.

That’s what makes recovery so powerful: sometimes the warning signs are everywhere, but change still has to happen from within.

Joshua Woosley lost his father to murder when he was only 9 years old.

Years later, his best friend was murdered too.

What followed was substance use, drug activity, jail, multiple felony charges, treatment, and years caught in the same cycle.

But that is not where Josh’s story ends.

Today, he is approaching 6 years clean, has worked in the recovery field for more than 5 years, rebuilt his relationship with his daughter and family, and turned the darkest parts of his past into a career helping other people change their lives.

This is a powerful conversation about childhood trauma, addiction, crime, incarceration, recovery, fatherhood, and second chances.

Trey Jenkins was still a little kid when his mom went to prison for manslaughter.

From there, his childhood became unstable, and he was eventually exposed to addiction, crime, gang activity, and street life at a young age.

That early chaos became part of the generational cycle he would spend years trying to break.

Today, Trey’s story is about much more than where he came from. It’s about what it took to survive it—and build a completely different life for his own children.
