Whipped out this trusty old lady today. My first of many Godin guitars. About 20 years ago, I was in the market for a new guitar, and I must have played 50 guitars in my search. Well, I swung into Saratoga Guitar and picked this one up for a strum. I knew instantly it was the guitar I'd be buying. She's seen a couple hundred shows, and countless recording sessions, but for the last few years, she's been up on the wall just looking pretty. Today, that changes. Don't be fooled by her looks, she bites. A fresh 9v in the EMG, and some new strings, and this song (which I'm thrilled to be producing for an old friend) is about to get kicked up a couple notches! Production on the new ShortWave RadioBand single is wrapped, and now it's time for the mix! There's this little-known step in the process between recording and mixing that I like to call "housekeeping", and that's what this beast needs before I make her shine in all of her glory. This tune is super fun. You cannot hear this song without experiencing the sudden urge to dance with a big 'old happy grin on your face - and this is coming from a guy who despises dancing!

Quite often these days we take a human recording and edit it to perfection. While that's great for some purposes, sometimes we want to keep the human feel. My client wants to do a cover of Zeppelin's "Lemon Song". Instead of recording the drums and editing to perfection, I've mapped out all of the tempo changes in Pro Tools so I still have the advantages of the grid, but with Bonham's timing fluctuations. This is gonna be a lot of fun. Tracking commences in T minus 131 minutes.

Typically, new gear in the studio is for recording and mixing, but this bad boy right here is called an Iceman, and it's a game changer!! Keeping these torn ligaments in my shoulder nice and chilly to speed up recovery. These songs aren't gonna mix themselves!! Thank you so much Barb Greene for letting me borrow it!
