So much ♥️ for and her awesome brand photos! We’re looking forward to diving into our new services, working with new clients and forging new partnerships!
CONGRATULATIONS! 🥳 You’re at a point in your business where you want to outsource social media or some aspects of your digital marketing…how exciting!
While there are a few obvious things you are probably looking for when choosing an agency or person to work with, keep the below points in mind before making a decision. 👇
▫️PROPOSAL: What did they send you regarding their services? Did they send over a proposal that aligns with what you said your business needed?
>> You want to make sure said agency listens to your needs and then sends over tailored options! It can also be telling how the proposal LOOKS- is it professional and branded or a few bullet points in an email?
▫️PROOF: What clients have they worked with previously?
▫️ BOUNDARIES: Have you noticed they set communication or work boundaries? If they do it often means they’ll respect your boundaries as well! Being available 24/7 doesn’t prove anything other than overextending, overcommitting and over contacting (you 😬).
▫️ VIBES: Ok it’s annoying to use the word vibes here but we thought synergies was even worse. (😵💫) Do you connect with the agency or contractor?? Do you get a good feeling from their personality, work and attitude?? This can often be even more important than some other key factors! If you get a bad feeling and it’s not a resounding YES ….then listen to that!

FOUR elements of a successful SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY 🗓 calendar:
Putting together a strategy for your social media marketing efforts can sound a lot more complicated than it has to be.
It’s really just planning, a little bit of research, checking out your analytics and getting ⚡️ creative. Keep these 4 buckets in mind when putting together a quarterly plan: 👇
- Your specific sales goals: what do you need to sell? Pick your top 3 big items (products, services, etc.) and then plan from there.
- Content needed: what’s been working, what’s trending/relevant and what do we need to do to get everything created in advance?
- Campaigns: what themes/areas of focus do you want to stick to? Once you identify those you can build out a campaign for each that includes social content, partnerships, email marketing, website, content marketing, etc.
-Low hanging fruit: National days, holidays, reels trends, behind the scenes, meet the team- anything that’s relatively easy to get on the social calendar!
Social media marketers BEST kept secret >>
What’s the key to creating REALLY great content with captions that hook people? It’s going down in the DMs and comments. 🤯
Yup, the best way to create content that people really respond to and engage with is by doing some serious social listening! 👂
We like to check out the conversations happening in the comments and requests/thoughts in DM convos. THIS is where the magic happens and THIS is where you find out why one graphic or reel performed so much better than another. It’s here that you’ll discover what people really care about, what fires them up and what they can relate to.
Start your week off strong 💪 and on the right foot! Set those social media boundaries, support your mental health and give yourself time back in your day! 🙌
Treat yourself. TREAT YO’ SELF. 👏
Maybe it’s winter dragging on or maybe it’s just Friday, but we think you should treat yourself. 🧁
Pro Treat Tip: in Charleston has the BEST cupcakes and the BEST chocolate-chocolate chip cookie we’ve ever had in our livvvvvves. 🤯 Seriously, it’s life changing.
We’ve come a long way and still have more work to do!!
While 40% is not proportional the US population, it’s still incredible to see almost half of US businesses are women-owned. 💪💪
Ladies- if you’re thinking about starting your own biz - whether it be freelancing or building a corporation, there are a few key things you can do to make the journey a little lighter:
☁️ Get really clear on your “why” - know why you’re starting your biz. Write it out!
☁️ Find a community that gets it, can relate to what you’re going through and is nothing but supportive. Psssst is a great place to start.
☁️Start small - just focus on a few key small goals and build from there.
☁️ Get really good at ONE thing and become the go-to for that product or service before adding on additions.
Fresh out of content ideas? Try these 4 quick templates for reels, stories or a carousel post!
☁️ Day in the life - share some personal/off the cuff content with your audience. Pssst..this is often what they want to see the most!
☁️ How-to: use one of your products, style an item, master a skill.
☁️ Freebies: offer your followers valuable content like workout snippets, cooking demos, free passes, samples, etc.
☁️ Lifestyle/brand content: how can you stretch your content beyond just what you’re selling? How can you sell a lifestyle vs. just a product or service?
Does the thought of email marketing terrify you? 😭🧟♂️
Between funnels, automations, calls to action and CTRs….it can be a lot.
But it doesn’t have to be complicated and you can start small!
1. Put together a simple email schedule with dates, topics, subject lines and goals. (Literally just a Google sheet document.)
2. Get set up with a tool like or that integrates with your website.
3. Add a few easy ways to collect emails on your website (event sign ups, content downloads, freebies.)
4. START SENDING! It doesn’t need to look perfect and you can adjust along the way. You don’t have to dive into the deep end right away to see a positive impact on your business- you can dip your toes in and still see results. 👊
🎥 Unsure of where to start to filling social media videos?! Keep the below tips in mind for superior content. ⬇️
1. Make sure your camera is in the right orientation. Portrait for reels, landscape for FB/LI.
2. Check your nails if you’re doing anything with your hands! You don’t need a manicure but make sure they aren’t distracting (chipped polish, dirt, nail art.)
3. How’s your lighting? Natural outdoor lighting is best! But you can achieve good lifting with a ring light.
4. What’s that in the background? Check your surroundings!
5. Get multiple takes 🎞

"Social usage was at its highest, which meant people were more engaged online than ever. That has changed now. People are back to living their lives again, and if anything, find the “real world” to be more precious. Engagement has likely dipped because of that."

How are your holiday marketing plans shaping up? 🎁
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For all of you last minute Lucy’s and Larry’s out there, here are a few things you can do to get in on the action:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✔️ Use this upcoming weekend (Black Friday, SBS, Cyber Monday, etc) as your holiday sales jumping off point - don’t put pressure on your business to get x amount of sales over those few days. Instead focus on that being the beginning of your major holiday sales goals through January.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✔️ Get a small stockpile of holiday digital content: photos, Reels, Gifs, Stories, videos. Consumers are inundated these next few weeks and you have to have eye catching and appealing content to stand out.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✖️ —> Don’t bother with stock photography. It won’t work.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✔️ Don’t forget to add value, value, value. Simply pushing sales at your audience non stop isn’t the key (unless you’re offering 80% off 😅).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✔️ Don’t just show them your products- show them an EXPERIENCE.
So much fun at the Palette Here for It Summit on Friday!! What an incredible community to be a part of and an amazing client to work with! Thanks Leigh Hornbeck Trombley for the Times Union Seen snaps!

CHEERS TO 3 YEARS!
-
The Social Localist has officially been in business 3 years this March...although the side hustle was happening for about 6!!
If you told 20 year old me that I’d own my business, make my own hours, be integrated into my local community, AND make the money I thought my effort and skills were worth...I would have laughed.
It’s truly been an amazing three years and I’m here to say YES you can be proud of yourself while also being humble!
I love the clients we work with, the people I’ve met, the relationships that have been built and I am so grateful for this business. ❣️
