Back-to-School Event
Free Haircuts along with backpacks filled with school supplies
(Pre-K through 12th grade)
On September 1st & 2nd (10 a.m.–8 p.m.)
This event is NOTE WORTHY…
Every year, Tru Cutz Barbershop provides free haircuts for local students.
The event has grown over the years to serve 300–500 kids (!!) in just two days, and it’s become a true Saratoga celebration!
This year’s event is especially meaningful.
It all began in 2016 with the support of a wonderful woman named Kimberly Galvin Janelle, who helped them hand out the very first backpacks. Before she passed away from cancer in 2024, she sent them this message…
“I don’t know if you know how sick I am. I just wanted to let you all know how proud I am of you! Look how far you’ve come since the first back-to-school days!!!! Be happy, stay grateful and work hard and the sky is the limit for you!!!!!”
We vow to keep this event alive in her honor!
What began with Kimberly has grown into a true community effort.
Local businesses and neighbors now donate in so many ways — Five Points provides food, Dirty Dog Inc. cooks for families, Saratoga Water keeps kids hydrated, and sponsors like Converse and Cricket Wireless have given away sneakers and even free phones. This year, they’re thrilled to partner with Calista and Co. Salon, so young ladies can receive back-to-school cuts and trims as well.
At its heart, GO BACK TRU is about love, community, and giving kids the confidence to start their school year strong.
