Norwegian black metal’s church-burning connection: In the 1990s, members of the Norwegian black metal scene (like Varg Vikernes of Burzum) were involved in a wave of arson targeting historic churches in Norway. The crimes were rooted in anti-Christian sentiment and an effort to revive pagan traditions.

A sub genre of a sub genre. Death ‘n’ Roll originated in the early 90s with a fusion of Death Metal and Rock ‘n’ Roll with groove oriented riffs. By bands such as Carcass and Gorefest. Entombed’s 1993 album Wolverine Blues is seen as a landmark album for the genre.

In the beginning there was rock. And rock formed into Metal. The first album considered the first Metal album was released on February 13, 1970 by Black Sabbath, the album name was Black Sabbath.
