A Message from the Minnesota Department of Transportation:
MnDOT, in partnership with the City of Clearwater and Wright County, will be conducting a Hwy. 24 safety and improvement project scheduled to begin in summer 2026 and conclude in late fall 2027. As part of the pre-construction, a public meeting will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29 at Lions Park Pavilion, 1110 CSAH 75, Clearwater. This isn’t a formal public hearing. It is an opportunity for Clearwater residents and those who use Hwy. 24 to stop at any time during the meeting time to ask questions and learn about thew plan, travel impacts, the schedule of work and to view project displays. MnDOT will reconstruct the Hwy. 24 bridge over I-94 between 179th Street and Ash Street in Clearwater in 2026-2027. Other elements of the project include building a new Hwy. 24 bridge over I-94, southeast of the current bridge; reconstructing Hwy 24 from Co. Rd. 145 (179th Street) to Smith Street; improving access and traffic flow with two roundabouts at the I-94 westbound and eastbound ramps, a teardrop-style roundabout at Hwy. 24 and Co. Rd. 145; constructing new road approaches at Ash Street and Nelson Drive; extending the multi-use trail and sidewalks between Co. Rd. 145 and CSAH 75; and connecting with Wright County’s roundabout project at Hwy. 24 and CSAH 7.

The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office has reported five school bus stop arm violations since the start of the school year - four in Little Falls and one in Royalton.

Our students depend on every driver to do their part in keeping them safe as they get on and off the bus.

Please remember:
🟡 When yellow lights are flashing – slow down and prepare to stop.
🔴 When red lights are flashing and the stop arm is out – STOP. Stay back at least 20 feet.

There is no excuse for ignoring these signals. A moment of distraction or being in a hurry is never worth risking a child’s life.

Law enforcement will be increasing patrols along bus routes. Violations will be investigated, and citations will follow when evidence confirms a violation.

Let’s work together to prevent tragedy. Slow down. Pay attention. Stop for the bus.
Our children’s safety must always come first.

- Superintendent Greg Johnson
