Episode 652: Using KISS and Jay and Mike’s own diehard fandom as an example, as you seek out new fans be careful that you don’t take your superfans for granted and ignore them.

KISS recently announced a partnership with a video game World of Tanks, an effort to expose the band to a potentially new audience and gain new fans, but… in doing so are they ignoring their longtime fans and forgetting to keep them also engaged and happy? Are they risking losing some diehard fans who eventually throw their hands up and say… I don’t care any longer.

That could be one of the worst things you do to a supportive fan, make them say I don’t care.

Musicians, Rock Is NOT Dead! This is the BEST Time to Be in the Music Business!

Episode 651: Gene Simmons and Glenn Hughes each recently said the music industry is dead, Gene going so far as to say fans have killed the business.

Wrong!

This is now the best time ever to be in the music industry. The gatekeepers from decades ago that decided what fans would listen to, decided who will be given the honor of releasing an album are gone. As a musician today you can record and release your music without a gatekeeper telling you no. You can record and release your music without the need of a million dollar loan/advance from a gatekeeper.
