What does it take to build the neighborhood bookstore for a new generation? 📖 Tee Minot has the answer.

Tee Minot isn’t just running a bookstore — she’s tending to a neighborhood. 📚 We chatted with the owner of Christopher’s Books on Potrero Hill to talk about the art of curation, the team she’s built, and what it means to be the bookshop for a new generation of readers.

This is exactly the kind of woman-owned small business we exist to celebrate. Independent. Intentional. Deeply rooted in community.

This is what women-owned small business looks like when it’s done with intention. We’re here for all of it. 🙌🏽

✨ She doesn’t just take photos. She captures what time tries to rush through.

This Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating the women who make our work meaningful — and one of our own is no exception. Meet Tumay Aslay — award-winning fine art photographer and the powerhouse Creative Media Specialist behind Seismic Sisters. 📸

Tumay is the founder of Tiny Forest Photography, where she has built a reputation as one of the SF Bay Area’s most sought-after newborn, maternity, family, baby, engagement, and wedding photographers. Her signature? A feminine touch so distinctive, you recognize her work before you ever see her name.

She has been featured in The Huffington Post and Collective Font and recognized by industry leaders as one of the Best Newborn Photographers in San Francisco. Her lifestyle newborn sessions are redefining what it means to document the arrival of a new baby — not stiff poses in baskets, but the real thing: the way a parent’s face looks when they’re holding a brand new life. The tiny hand wrapped around a finger. The older sibling leaning in with wonder. The exhale of a family that just got bigger. All of it. In your home. On your terms.

Tumay’s lens doesn’t just document life’s most meaningful moments — it holds them. Her work that captures the real moments of love and family become the photographs you’ll reach for again and again for the rest of your life. We are so proud to call her a Seismic Sister. 💛

March is Women’s History Month — but for us, it’s more than a moment. It’s a movement that the world desperately needs. ✨

At a time when the world feels uncertain, women continue to be the quiet (and not-so-quiet) architects of peace — investing in their neighborhoods, creating safe spaces, mentoring the next generation, looking out for families, and building businesses that keep communities fed, employed, and supported. When women thrive, communities stabilize. When women lead, neighborhoods stay vibrant. When women are resourced, futures feel possible.

This month, we’re doubling down on visibility, storytelling, and showing the work. This series, She Who Wanders, and spotlighting women-owned businesses isn’t just good economics — it’s community care. This is joyful feminism in action. Supporting women on the ground. Uplifting their stories. Honoring the everyday leadership that makes our cities feel like home.

Tag a woman-owned business we should feature next. Let’s keep wandering. And let’s keep building. 💛

Swipe through for a reminder: when women are supported, entire communities glow.

Our wish on our special month - peace and love.

Mill Valley is more than a postcard.

Not long ago, parts of this neighborhood faced serious flooding — storefronts underwater, streets overwhelmed, small businesses fighting to stay open. And yet… their doors reopened.

It’s because neighborhoods like Mill Valley in California are built on something deeper than good weather and beautiful views. They’re built on commitment. On shop owners who choose, every day, to unlock the door. On artists who keep creating. On neighbors who show up.

We’re all fighting different versions of the same battles — politics, rising costs, change, uncertainty. But when we choose art, community, and care for our local neighborhoods, we create places where people can gather and hang their hats. We’re so proud to have met wonderful women business owners and shopkeepers - The Store, Mystic, Mill Valley Flowers, and more. They’re the heartbeat of this neighborhood.

They make the town resilient.
They make it home.

Some 📸 of our wandering.

💐Some businesses just blossom with joy.

Meet Wendy, owner of Mill Valley Flowers — a beloved, multi-generational flower shop with a story that blooms deeper than petals. Her mother bought the shop while searching for light, hope, and beauty. Flowers became her refuge… and then, her legacy to the community. Today, that legacy lives on through Wendy.

🌸As local legend has it, if Mill Valley Flowers does your wedding, your marriage is said to be blessed and built to last. We’re not saying it’s magic… but we’re also not not saying that.

Stories like this are why we do what we do. At Seismic Sisters, we spotlight women-led businesses that carry history, heart, and community forward. Mill Valley Flowers is more than a corner bloom shop. It’s an engine behind the livelihood of generations within families, personalized bouquets that are works of art, and the town’s keeper of love magic. ✨

Save this for florist info + follow for more women-powered stories. If Mill Valley Flowers did your family’s weddings, we’d love to hear your stories!

🎨 Art is the parachute that catches us all.

Rhodessa Jones reminds us that art is hope, light, and a lifeline when the world feels heavy. Not extra. Not optional. Essential.

Swipe ←📚 5 Reads for 2026 — from the Mission, with love ✨

Curated by Leah Morrett, owner of Sour Cherry Comics — one of the very few queer/lesbian- and women-owned comic book shops in San Francisco, and the only one in the Mission District doing it like this. We loved Sour Cherry Comics - a community hub for gender- and sexuality-themed comics, graphic novels, workshops, and events that make space for everyone.

From Black Flame to Empire of AI, these picks aren’t just good reads — they’re culture-shaping stories that challenge power, imagine new futures, and reflect who we are (and who we’re becoming).

Swipe to see the full list 📌, support local, and follow as we continue spotlighting women-powered, small businesses shaping California, inspiring the world.

PS: Walk in for a convo with Leah and treat yourself to the ultimate download of ALL things books/comics. What a star!
