Megan Piphus Peace has made history as the first Black woman puppeteer to join Sesame Street, marking an important milestone for the long-running children’s program. Her journey began in 2020, when she introduced audiences to Gabrielle, a 6-year-old Muppet character created to support meaningful conversations for young viewers. In 2021, Peace officially became a full-time cast member, bringing warmth, creativity, and authenticity to the role.
Through her work, Peace helps expand representation on one of the world’s most trusted educational shows. Gabrielle’s character offers children a chance to see diverse voices and experiences reflected on screen in a positive and empowering way. Peace’s achievement highlights the value of inclusion in children’s media and serves as an inspiration to aspiring artists and storytellers.
