Sean Nicholson, 29 — Jack Nicholson’s eldest grandson — was arrested in Los Angeles on Aug. 5 for felony domestic violence after allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend, Elizabeth Lawlor. Police in Austin, Texas, arrested 32-year-old Ethan Nieneker for allegedly opening fire outside a Target store on Aug. 11, killing three people, including a child.

Authorities say Nieneker fled the scene in a stolen car before being caught. He faces multiple charges, including capital murder of a person under 10 and first-degree murder.

Police Chief Lisa Davis said Nieneker has a history of mental health issues and prior violence, including incidents involving family members. The victims’ names have not yet been released, and the motive remains under investigation.

On Aug. 4, Stephen Gower, 53, of Charlestown, Indiana, called 911 claiming his wife, Christina Gower, had fatally shot herself in the head with an AR-15-style rifle. Investigators say his account didn’t match the evidence. Country singer Spencer Hatcher’s mother, Holly Hatcher, 62, was fatally stabbed during a home invasion in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Police say Kevin Moses Walker, 41, broke into the Hatchers’ home with a large knife, killing Holly and injuring her husband, Michael, 65. Michael managed to get a gun from his vehicle and fatally shot Walker in the driveway. Authorities believe it was a random attack and are still looking for a motive.

Deputies found Holly dead inside and Walker outside when they arrived. Investigators say Walker had bought a knife earlier that day, slept at a Walmart, and allegedly broke into a store before the attack. The Hatcher family is devastated, Spencer canceled upcoming shows, and Michael said they are left with “questions that will never be answered” but are finding strength in the love and support around them.
