SOFA KINGDOM OF BERTRAM CABRA!

Fast Food Fare #1: Burger King's Jack O' Lantern Whopper

I finally had the chance to pick up the Jack O' Lantern Whopper from Burger King. This is basically a Whopper with bacon and cheese, but served on what they described as a "naturally dyed" orange bun with sesame seeds as black as my soul!

First thing. As orange as it looks in the picture, it's even MORE orange in real life! Almost shocking. Now, and maybe sadly, this is not a Pumpkin Spice Whopper. As I already stated, it's a Whopper with cheese and bacon. There is no discernible flavor to the bun.

My interest in this Whopper comes from past Halloween Whoppers. Several years ago, Burger King had a Whopper with a bun that was dyed pitch black, and flavored with A1 Steak Sauce. It went viral, though, not because of its flavor, but because the dye in the bun turned people's p**p a hysterical neon green that lasted for days.

I'm curious (and secretly hoping) to see what color I'll be producing with this orange bun. I'll keep you all posted on any developments! 😀👍🏼

2023 Beer Advent Calendar, Day 11- The Brewing Projekt Dare Mighty Things Hazy IPA with Citra, Mosaic, Sabro, and El Dorado hops.

7.6% ABV

The Eau Claire Brewing Project, out of Wisconsin, and better known as "The Brewing Projekt", has been putting out some great beer for the last few years (at least in my area), and this is another wonderful brew of theirs.

Hazy, but very smooth, with minimal bitterness, despite the inclusion of four different hops (but all among the best hops out there). I could go back to this over and over again. Cheers!

2023 Beer Advent Calendar, Day 10!

Fire Maker Brewing Company Calamity Jane blonde ale.

4.2% ABV.

I paired this with the most amazing burger at Poe's (see the picture in the comments). This beer was light and refreshing. However, it was a bit too bland for my overall liking. The style is usually a bit bland to me, though. I'd recommend this for anyone who usually drinks the macro stuff to try out. I hope to find some other Fire Maker beers to drink, instead.

Mason Ale Works Citra Claws hazy IPA with Citra hops.

7.9% ABV.

This is my first try of a Mason brew. The can artwork and "Hazy IPA with a hint of Christmas FEAR!" were cool enough to stand out. But what's IN the can matters the most.

This is a simple and tasty brew, indeed. Simple, because it's packed with a single hop, and that makes it smooth and easy to drink. But it's quite delicious and enjoyable. I will look forward to trying out more Mason beers. Cheers!

2023 Beer Advent Calendar, Day 8 (late post)!

Allagash Brewing Company Gatherwell bourbon barrel aged stout.

11% ABV.

I was in Portland, ME this past October for a night. While I did get to stop at some of my favorite area breweries, I didn't get to go to Allagash. I'll be sure to do so when I return. They are one of the best in the game, and this is quite the heavy-hitter. However, it's also surprisingly smooth, and easy to drink. Dangerous! Cheers!

Lord Hobo Brewing Co Boom Sauce double IPA.

8% ABV.

Bold and slightly bitter, just like a DIPA should be, now in a 19 ounce can of whoop-ass! Cheers!

Southbound Brewing Company Islandia Sour Tropical fruited sour.

5.3% ABV.

Fruited with pineapple, passionfruit, and mango. Perfect for a hot summer day, or longing for summer when it's cold out. Enjoying this local brew here on Bay St in Savannah on a nice weeknight! Cheers!

Tastes like Sweet Baby Jesus to me. Where's the banana? I was looking forward to the addition of banana to the classic SBJ flavor. I'll have to try another one, when I find it.

Flying Machine Brewing Company Pluck gose with pink sea salt, blackberry, raspberry, and coriander.

5.2% ABV.

A nice, refreshing gose for any time of the year, even when it's cold outside. Cheers!
