We completed construction of the AIA - Hong Kong office at the Police Married Quarters in SoHo last spring and are proud to share the incredible interior photography by Scott Brooks (http://imagennix.com/). This mixed-use project combines office space, conference room, gallery & presentation space, and open workspace for AIA members and staff in a scant 450 square feet, using almost entirely donated materials from our AIA Corporate Affiliates! Special thanks to J Lee Rofkind of BUZ Design (http://www.buzdesign.biz/) and Joe Cheng of Coosa Construction ([email protected]) for helping make real the FIRST BBAK BUILT PROJECT! Here's to many more to come!

This proposal explores shared humanity and confronts our innate potential for inhumanity, engaging this duality through object and image. The two principle structures emerge from the same formal and material language; each providing comfortable interior space for gathering and reflection. Images of Memorial visitors are collected digitally and are projected sequentially via giant LED screens – a visual index of common humanity borrowing from the place language of the Boardwalk. The confrontational address between the two structures creates a denial of the “Other”, describing the inhumanity of identity politics that have underpinned the Holocaust and other Genocides. Whereas internally, each is inclusive and collective, the interstitial space of their confrontation denies human comfort and connection. Visitors are sheared from one another and are bombarded with the same flashing, digital imagery projecting into the interior, “human” spaces. But in the interstitial, “inhuman” space, these images lose gestalt, becoming an oppressive, pixilated noise.

Thank you so much to everyone who voted for us in the FreeGreen.com competition. We placed 14th out of around 300 entries, earning an 'Honorable Mention' title. We are so pleased with this outcome, and appreciated all of your support.

Well friends, voting has closed for the FreeGreen.com housing competition, and it's all off to the jury now. Thanks to everyone out there who voted for our house, and told their friends to vote, too!
