My dad's new fiancΓ©e stole my late mother's wedding dress that I had been keeping for myself β so I made sure she faced the consequences.
My mother passed away from cancer when I was just 12 years old.
All these years, I had kept her wedding dress carefully preserved, dreaming of wearing it at my own wedding someday as a way of honoring her.
Since I go to college in another city and live in a small apartment, some of my belongings β including Mom's wedding dress β stayed at my father's house.
A few years ago, my dad got engaged to a woman named Susan.
She was ten years younger than him, driven, and not exactly easy to compromise with.
We never really warmed up to each other, but my dad was happy, and that was enough for me.
After she moved in, Susan slowly changed just about everything in the house.
The furniture. The pillows. Even the coffee mugs.
Last weekend, I came home for their wedding rehearsal.
That evening, everyone gathered at a restaurant.
Then I watched Susan walk out wearing...
MY MOTHER'S WEDDING DRESS.
I stood there completely frozen.
I walked over to Susan and my father and quietly asked:
'Susan, why are you wearing my mother's dress?'
Susan smirked and replied:
'I found it in your room. Quite the coincidence, right? It fits me like a glove, and honestly, it looks a lot better on me than collecting dust in a closet.'
The color drained from my face.
'Susan, you had absolutely no right to go into my room and take my mother's wedding dress.'
She rolled her eyes and raised her voice.
'I like this dress. I took it because it suits me BETTER than it ever suited your mother.'
My father just shrugged and said the wedding was only days away, so nothing was going to change.
Fine.
If that was how they wanted to play it, then so be it.
This was not going to go unanswered.
Because by that point, a brilliant plan had already started forming in my mind.
The wedding day arrived.
All the guests were gathered at the restaurant. Susan and my father stood at the center of everything.
Then I walked in.
Every single head turned in my direction.
Susan looked me up and down.
Then, shaking with fury, she screamed:
'HOW DARE YOU?!' β¬οΈ
