It's important to see that you will not see us engage the community in the way this other team is. We can return to dignity through honesty.

I am not going to spend this campaign rebutting every lie that gets told by other candidates and their supporters. I want to focus on what Jill, Andi, and I will do to change the focus back to supporting every Forest Lake student, invest in our schools and staff, and restore community trust. 9 months of trying to fill a school board vacancy is a clear sign of dysfunction and need for change.

Truth, honesty, and respect matter, though, so I do want to make an ask. As you hear the claims flying around, ask for an example or a source. Something specific. In a world in which anyone can say anything online, fact checking is everything. Our students deserve that much. Our district's reputation deserves that much. Axes to grind don't create academic opportunities and they don't increase student attendance rates.

Good school board candidates who are in this race for the right reasons don't need to lie and they don't need their supporters to lie, either. As a former Forest Lake Area Schools debater, I learned about providing a warrant for a claim early on. If I say it, I can back it up. I have a voting record and a reputation that supports that claim. If you have questions about Jill, Andi, or myself, we are more than happy to discuss them with any voter in the district. After all, we're asking for your vote, and you should know who and what you're voting for in this election.

Let's keep it clean.

Hello everyone!
I've added a discussion/issues listing to the website for us to have dialogue about things that we discuss as topics that relate to Forest Lake students.
Please have a read-through if you are at all interested in the detail surrounding "NAEP Proficiency Definitions". It is important to "get that right" when we're discussing it. It is critical that we do not mis-articulate the benchmarks/metrics as something they are not - which I have observed happening with alarming frequency in the public discourse.

What NAEP Proficient actually means, why it isn't the same as grade-level reading or math, and what the 2024 results show for Minnesota and Forest Lake Area Schools (ISD 831).
