The October USDJN DJ Meet Up is going to be our biggest event in 2025. I anticipate 200 DJs in attendance. The new Bass Boss column array speakers drop October 10, 2025 and we will be one of the first people in the country to hear them. Don Carlo will be spinning that night and DJ QBert will be demonstrating the new Reloop RP-7 turntables. This is going to be an amazing night.

Happy Labor Day. I was curious why we have such a day so I Googled it and thought I would share.

Labor Day originates from the late 19th-century labor movement, which sought to honor American workers' contributions to the nation's prosperity and well-being. The first Labor Day celebration was a parade and picnic in New York City on September 5, 1882, organized by the Central Labor Union. Oregon was the first state to make it a holiday in 1887, and by 1894, 30 states recognized it. President Grover Cleveland signed a bill in June 1894, making the first Monday in September a federal holiday to honor American workers and mend ties with the labor movement after the deadly Pullman Strike.

On this day in 1975, Bruce Springsteen released his third studio album and big breakthrough, Born to Run. Although Springsteen’s first two albums were critically praised, they didn’t sell well beyond the northeastern United States. Springsteen conceived of a unifying theme for the album, and he worked alongside manager Mike Appel and producer Jon Landau to create a “Wall of Sound” effect with the E Street Band. Recorded over six months in New York, the effort was well worth it; the album charted well in much of the world, and it catapulted Bruce Springsteen from regional act to global superstar. Born to Run features the title track, “Thunder Road,” “Jungleland,” “Backstreets,” and “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.”

Today in Music 1971 - The Bee Gees started a four-week run at No. 1 on the U.S. singles chart with "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart." It was the group's tenth U.S. hit and first No. 1. The Bee Gees-penned song was originally offered to Andy Williams, but ultimately the Bee Gees recorded it themselves; it was also later covered by soul singer Al Green.
