Five years ago, Johnny Rodriguez saw something that changed his life: blood in his urine. The first time it happened, he drank more water and it went away. When it happened again the next morning, he knew he needed to get checked. An ER scan revealed what Johnny describes as an apple-sized tumor on his kidney. Doctors eventually removed his left kidney and adrenal gland, but the battle did not end there. Today, the La Joya, Texas father says he is fighting stage 4 clear cell renal cell carcinoma that has spread to his lymph nodes and bones. He has undergone multiple treatments, including immunotherapy, infusions, an NK cell treatment and radiation. The disease has weakened his bones so severely that his right femur now has a metal rod supporting it, and his right upper arm required a metal plate after the bone broke. Other tumors are affecting his left arm, right forearm and ribs, making basic things like walking, showering and getting on and off the toilet painful. Another 25 radiation treatments are scheduled to begin next week. Yet when Johnny was asked about his biggest fear, his answer wasn’t about the pain or the treatments. It was about his family. His youngest son is only 15, and Johnny says he feels like he still has so much life left to live. 💔 His wife has stepped away from work to care for him, while they continue trying to keep life moving for their children. Johnny receives some treatment closer to home and travels to MD Anderson in Houston for specialized care. Through everything, he wants his story to serve another purpose: reminding people not to ignore changes in their bodies. He says his bloodwork appeared normal even while the tumor was growing. Kimberly Nicole Varela should have been preparing for the future with her children and the baby she was carrying. Instead, her family is now preparing for her funeral. Kimberly was only 23 when she and an 18-year-old were struck while walking along County Road 44 near FM 1694 in the Robstown area around 3:20 Saturday morning. Kimberly suffered serious injuries and later died at the hospital. The 18-year-old survived with a foot injury. According to a family friend, Kimberly was one month pregnant. 💔 Her family is now grieving a daughter, sister, friend and mother — along with the baby they were waiting to welcome. Kimberly leaves behind three children: Rodney Ramirez, Khloe Varela and Nathan Casas. And while they begin saying goodbye, investigators are still searching for the driver who left the scene. Texas DPS believes the vehicle was a white Chevrolet Silverado, model years 2007 through 2013, with damage to the front end and a headlight. If you have seen a truck matching that description with recent damage, or if you witnessed anything that morning, your information could matter. Please don’t assume someone else knows. May 26 changed Xavier Taylor’s family forever. The 12-year-old was warming up for a championship baseball game in New Jersey when a baseball struck him in the neck. He collapsed and went into cardiac arrest, and since that day, his family has been waiting for their little boy to wake up. Nearly four months later, Xavier is still unresponsive and remains on a ventilator, but his father says there are encouraging changes. Xavier has been moved into a short-term care facility, he is regulating his own body temperature, his lab work has improved, and he has gained weight. “When we look at Xave every day, we see Xavier,” his father Gregory said. ❤️ Those words say so much about the hope this family is holding onto. Today, people across the country and around the world are being asked to stop together in prayer. At 4 p.m. Central, wherever you are, take a moment to pray for Xavier. Pray for his brain. Pray for his body. Pray for his breathing. Pray for strength for Gregory and the entire Taylor family. Pray for the continued signs of progress and, most importantly, pray that Xavier opens his eyes. There is something incredibly powerful about a young person leaving behind a dream that continues touching lives long after they are gone. Jackson Conway was diagnosed with cancer as a teenager, after doctors found a tumor in his jaw that later spread to his lungs. Yet during one of the hardest battles of his young life, Jackson had a wish that was completely focused on others. He wanted a giant cross beside Interstate 65 in Evergreen, Alabama, so people passing by could see it from the road and be drawn closer to Jesus. Jackson went to Heaven on March 8, 2021, at just 17 years old. But his parents, Terry and Kristy, continued carrying his dream forward. Years of fundraising and determination eventually brought the 120-foot illuminated cross to life. Now, people who have followed Jackson’s story from hundreds of miles away are making special trips just to see it. Some have even changed their route home from the beach so they could stop by. His parents say the cross is doing exactly what Jackson intended. And perhaps that is the most beautiful part of his story: Jackson’s voice may no longer be here, but the message he wanted to share is still standing tall. His cross is shining in the darkness, reminding travelers of faith, hope, and Jesus. May Jackson’s legacy continue reaching hearts for generations to come. ❤️🙏

Imagine watching your child have seizure after seizure, knowing you would give anything to make them stop.
That is the nightmare Brittany says she is living with her daughter, Brynley.
Brynley’s medical journey began nearly three years ago when she developed terrifying fevers reaching as high as 106 degrees. Her condition became so serious that Brittany and Brynley’s grandmother rushed her to Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Then Brynley stopped talking, began seizing and coded.
For nearly six minutes, doctors fought to bring her back while her mother watched and prayed.
“They got Brynley back.”
But the nightmare wasn't over. Doctors later discovered an infection in her brain that required surgery, followed by a year of intensive antibiotics.
Then came the seizures.
Beginning in November 2025, Brittany says they became more frequent despite repeated medication changes. By this summer, Brynley was experiencing as many as six seizures a day. Her speech and memory began changing, she started stumbling, and the seizures themselves were becoming different.
On September 14, Brittany says doctors diagnosed her with Lennox Gastaut Syndrome, a severe form of epilepsy.
Now Brynley is facing another brain surgery.
Doctors plan to remove the portion of her brain containing scar tissue from the previous infection, hoping it can improve her quality of life. But Brittany says they have also warned that the surgery may not completely stop the seizures because the abnormal activity now involves a broader area of Brynley’s brain.
Without intervention, doctors have warned of potentially worsening seizures, walking difficulties, cognitive decline and greater disability.
Right now, her family is waiting for another MRI and a surgery date.
So please stop and pray for this sweet little girl. 🙏❤️
Pray for Brynley’s doctors to have wisdom, pray for a successful surgery, pray for protection over her brain and body, and most of all, pray that somehow this little girl can finally find relief from the seizures that have taken so much from her.

‼️ This family has endured more in one year than most people could ever imagine.
In March, Chrislyn was pregnant with her baby girl when her husband Justin suffered a horrific nail gun injury.
A nail entered the right side of his skull and lodged in his brain.
There was bleeding in his brain, and Justin initially couldn't move the left side of his body.
As doctors prepared for surgery, Chrislyn turned to the only thing she could do from outside that hospital room — she asked people to pray.
“Our babies and I need him, so please please just whisper a prayer for him.”
Justin survived.
And somehow, he fought his way through recovery. By June, he was back at work, grateful to be alive and able to return to some sense of normal life.
During that same year, their family welcomed Gracelyn.
Their baby girl.
Their little blessing.
Their “mommy’s girl.” ❤️
But on September 14, at only 4 months old, Gracelyn passed away.
Her family has chosen not to share the circumstances surrounding her death. Instead, they are choosing to remember the beautiful things — her smile, her love, the way she adored her brothers and sisters, and the precious place she held in her family.
Now Chrislyn and Justin are facing the heartbreaking task of saying goodbye to their daughter.
Gracelyn leaves behind her brothers Connor and Braxton, sisters Kynslee and Timberlynn, her parents and an extended family who loved her deeply.
There are some losses that simply cannot be explained.
Some questions may never have answers.
But one thing is certain:
Gracelyn was loved.
She was loved every day she was here, and she will continue to be loved every day she is missed. ❤️

Skylar Ingram is only 12 years old.
But the fight inside this little girl is enormous.
A few months ago, Skylar was diagnosed with bone cancer. She had been dreaming about becoming a college and professional volleyball player, looking up to Gardendale’s own Merritt Beason, and suddenly her life became about chemotherapy, hospitals and surgery instead of volleyball courts and dreams.
But Skylar kept going.
After weeks of intense chemotherapy, doctors discovered a cancerous area in her right femur.
Last Friday, she underwent an incredibly complex 18-hour surgery at Children’s of Alabama.
The cancerous portion of her femur was removed. Surgeons then used Skylar’s left fibula as part of the reconstruction, placing it inside a cadaver bone and reconnecting blood vessels to establish a blood supply.
Now she is recovering in the ICU.
She has a long road ahead and could remain hospitalized for another two weeks, followed by months of rehabilitation and recovery.
Yet her mother Kelly says her daughter continues to amaze everyone around her.
“Skylar has zero quit.” ❤️
That spirit is also being matched by her community.
The SERVE team from Church of the Highlands in Fultondale came together to build an amazing ramp for Skylar, giving her family one less obstacle to worry about when she returns home.
And Kelly has nothing but gratitude for the medical team caring for her daughter, describing the hospital staff as “angels walking among us.”
Skylar's story isn't about giving up on a dream.
It's about fighting through the hardest chapter imaginable while continuing to believe there can be another chapter afterward.
She still has a long road ahead.
So please pray for this brave 12-year-old. 🙏❤️
Pray that her surgery heals well. Pray for her recovery. Pray for her family. And pray that one day we get to see Skylar back on the volleyball court doing what she loves most.

For three years, Jason Farmer has been fighting stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
For three years, his wife Rebecca has been beside him.
And for three years, their 7-year-old daughter Lily has been hoping for more time with her dad. ❤️
Jason’s family recently decided to take another chance with an “outside the box” chemotherapy treatment, hoping against the odds that it might somehow give Jason more time.
But now they are facing another frightening setback.
Rebecca says Jason’s kidneys are not functioning properly, and doctors don't yet know why. His blood pressure has dropped dangerously low and has not responded to treatment the way they hoped.
Doctors now need to give him IV medication to raise his blood pressure, which requires constant monitoring. Jason is being moved to the ICU.
For Rebecca, there is another heartbreaking reality.
She cannot simply stay with him all night.
She has to leave when visiting hours end.
And when you're terrified that the person you love may not have much time left, walking away from their hospital room can feel unbearable.
“I’m really struggling with the thought of having to leave him. I just want to be beside him.”
Rebecca isn't asking for anything complicated.
She is asking for prayers.
“So many prayers.”

There is a special kind of heartbreak that comes from watching your child hurt and knowing you cannot simply make it stop.
This father is living that heartbreak right now.
His little boy was brought to the ER because of a problem with his knee. Doctors checked him and found that everything looked okay with his bones, giving the family hope that it was nothing serious.
Then came the blood tests.
The doctors discovered leukemia in his blood.
The family was rushed to a larger hospital, and now their little boy may begin chemotherapy. What started as a simple trip to have his knee examined suddenly became a fight for his child’s health and future.
His father says he is at a loss for words. His heart is hurting. His mind cannot understand how this could be happening. He feels helpless watching his son suffer, wishing he could somehow carry the pain for him.
“I’m praying I wake up from this dream and he is no longer in any pain.”
As a father, he admits he cannot understand why his child has to go through this. But even through the fear, he is refusing to let go of his faith.
“I’ll trust you in the storm just please heal my baby boy in name of Jesus Christ.” 🙏
Tonight, please remember this family in your prayers.
Pray for the little boy facing leukemia. Pray for his doctors and nurses. Pray that his body responds to treatment. Pray for his parents, who are trying to stay strong while their whole world has been turned upside down.
And above everything, pray for healing.

Doctors warned Adriana before her baby was even born that he might not survive long enough to take his first breath.
But Jorge Roberto Garcia III — little “Tres” — proved them wrong. ❤️
Born with CNOT3 and Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, Tres entered the world facing challenges most people could never imagine. His mother traveled from Eagle Pass to Corpus Christi so he could be near the specialized care he needed at Driscoll Children’s Hospital. His first heart procedure came when he was barely a week old, followed by months in the hospital, intubations, another major surgery and emergency treatment after serious complications.
Every time his family faced another frightening chapter, Tres kept fighting.
He made it to his first birthday. 🎂 Then, just before Christmas, his family experienced something they had waited so long for — they finally brought their little boy HOME to Eagle Pass. They had only five precious days together, but those days became memories they will carry forever.
Now, the family is facing news no parent ever wants to hear. Adriana says Tres’ heart is in the late stages of heart failure, and after seeking additional medical opinions, the family was told there is no medical option available that can save his life. He is now receiving palliative and hospice care.
