💖 In the world of nonprofit work—especially in the deeply passionate field of equine rescue and sanctuary—alignment is everything. We are fortunate to partner with many incredible organizations, rescues, and sanctuaries whose hearts beat with the same unwavering rhythm as ours at Mustang Valley Sanctuary.

However, as we grow and move through this landscape, we sometimes encounter the difficult truth: alignment is not always supportive, even when the mission appears similar.

The core of our organization is not about volume; it is about vows.

This year, we are proud to say we have found amazing forever homes for more Mustangs than ever before, and yes, saving as many horses as possible is the ultimate goal. But that goal will never compromise our values.

We refuse to be an organization focused solely on moving horses out the door to improve our "adoption numbers."

• We do not adopt to just anybody. Our process involves a rigorous background check and a thorough evaluation to ensure the human is a true, suitable match for the specific horse.

• We check the environment. Housing and fencing must meet our high standards to ensure the Mustang's safety and well-being.

• We demand a lifetime commitment. Our adoption contract is our promise to the Mustang. It explicitly states that the horse cannot be moved without our knowledge, and, most critically: If the horse does not work out for any reason, it must come back to us. This is not negotiable..

If you have adopted from Mustang Valley Sanctuary, you know this commitment is real. You become part of our extended family. We reach out, we check in—because for us, this is like watching a child move out into the world. You never stop caring.

Every Mustang that passes through our gate has our protection for life, whether they remain in our sanctuary or find peace in their forever home. This is the lifetime safety net they deserve.

It is with this firm dedication that we have recently had to step away from a certain organization whose values, processes, and thought patterns ultimately did not align with our unwavering commitment to the individual Mustang.

It is a hard decision, but it is necessary to maintain the integrity of our promise. We will not bend our values for the sake of a partnership.

Follow us as we continue to grow. Follow us as we advocate, protect, educate, and hold sacred space for your American Mustang. Our compass is set on quality, not quantity, and that is where we will always find our way.

Alleged Unlicensed Operation Arrest following 18 Suspensions

ROXBURY — Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced the arrest of a Grand Gorge resident for aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree.

On Thursday night, December 4th, Sheriff’s Deputies were traveling on State Highway 30, in the Town of Roxbury. Deputies observed a vehicle parked in the northbound lane of State Highway 30 with the vehicle's hazard lights activated. Deputies made contact with the driver, who was identified as 40-year-old Peter Williams of Grand Gorge. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Williams’ drivers license was suspended for failure to answer summons with a total of 18 suspensions.

Upon completion of the investigation, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested and charged Williams with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Second Degree, a misdemeanor, and Unlicensed Operator, a violation, both offenses of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Upon completion of arrest processing, Williams was released on an appearance ticket and traffic summonses and is to appear in the Town of Roxbury Court at a later date to answer the charges.
