Scituate's fishing industry got the spotlight today at the Scituate Historical Society's final event of its Waves of History series. Held at the Scituate Maritime & Irish Mossing Museum, today's event featured Local Catch 143, personal accounts & insights into the future of the industry, fish prints, Miss Emily Food Truck, and more. CALLING ALL SCITUATE ARTISTS!
The Town of Scituate is seeking to enhance the elegance of the Maritime Center with a water or nautical-themed artwork that celebrates the identity, history, and natural beauty of Scituate. The selected piece will be donated and permanently housed at the Scituate Maritime Center.

Submission deadline is October 15, 2026 with winner announcement on November 9, 2026. For complete information on submission requirements, see FLYER. For any questions, please contact the Select Board/Town Administrator Office at 781-545-8740.

Tonight, the Scituate Public Schools' New School Naming Task Force selected 2 additional possible names for the new elementary school being built on the current Hatherly school site. The new names are Bates and Daniel Ward. The names were added to the first three after residents had mixed reactions when the first three were unveiled a few months ago. The Task Force will present to the School Committee on August 31, 2026 and the School Committee could vote on one name as early as September 14, 2026.

A fun-filled morning outside Town Hall this morning for the Town of Scituate DPW's 2026 Touch-a-Truck event. Hundreds of little ones explored dozens of huge trucks, bulldozers, mowers, bobcats and more. DPW departments from other local towns brought some of their equipment as well. Take a look at the fun.
