Yesterday, three of our students went to the Kansas Association of Broadcasters Student Broadcast and Sports Seminar at Arrowhead Stadium! They accepted the awards that they have earned and had several great learning experiences.

At the beginning of the Seminar, they listened to a message from Jake Eisenberg, a broadcaster with the Kansas City Royals. He spoke about how it has taken skill, connections, and a little bit of luck to make it to the Majors.

Afterwards, the students went to an Activity Fair. They were able to get some hands-on practice doing things like on-air reads, using a mixing board, and a weather report on a green screen. It was intimidating at first to work with the pros, but they jumped in and learned from them. They even get to keep the things they made.

They also spoke with several colleges and universities about options after high school.

Finally, they attended sessions to learn about social media, target audiences, future careers and recommended skills. They each took something away from their sessions. One of the sessions was in the Press Box at Arrowhead Stadium, which was amazing!

Today, a few members of the BBN Staff traveled to Pratt to shadow KCMC Sports and help with their coverage of the track meet! It was a great learning opportunity for our students!

Thank you to Cameron and Grant for answering all of our questions and letting us try out a few new things.

We are so proud of our Seniors who went above and beyond! Being designated as a CTE Scholar is a huge accomplishment!

Maile and Jakub have been a great part of our program for the last three years and we appreciate all of their effort. They have both decided to continue their education in Digital Media at college next year.

TODAY is the last day to order one of these shirts that support two different organizations in our community! The deadline is 11:59 p.m.

Jakub Harris, an SCHS Senior, designed the "Awesome" shirt in collaboration with the First Baptist Church in Scott City. He was inspired by being a part of the Youth group at FBC and learning about the Mission Work that is supported by the church. FBC Scott City

Maile Depperschmidt, a Senior at SCHS, has created the "Hometown" shirts to support the El Quartelejo Museum. She has always been inspired by her former Science teacher and his love for fossils. It was what made her want to make these shirts. El Quartelejo Museum

They both have a goal of selling 25 shirts each! They are both a little short of that goal, so help them out!

BBN is proud to announce that our students have received eight State Broadcasting Awards from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters! They have put in a lot of hard work and it is great to see that it has paid off!

They will travel to Kansas City in April to accept their awards.

A fight to the very end. 💙 We are so proud of our Scott City Beavers. It has been so much fun covering this team and watching them give it their all, even when it’s tough.
