We had the most amazing time in Kansas City! We had a jam packed schedule and made the most out of the time we had.

On Thursday, we went to the KAB Student Seminar. Our kids got hands-on experience with industry professionals doing news and weather reports, interviews, and radio broadcasts. I asked all of the students to submit the best thing that they learned. They said that they learned so much about the options they have for post-secondary education, potential careers, and tips for camera operation and on camera presence.

At the end of the conference, they attended the awards ceremony and got to enjoy celebrating their amazing accomplishments with an ice cream bar.

Thursday night, we went to see a KC Current game! It was so high energy and our students were excited to be so close to the field and cheer on the Current to a W.

On Friday, we started the day with some sight seeing at Union Station and a few other downtown spots. Afterwards, we went to Activate and played a ton of games! There were rooms with different games and they competed to get the most points. The boys team, the “Humble Army” who were later renamed to the “Not So Humble Army” by the girls team, won the trophy.

We finished our trip with some KC BBQ that was featured on an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. We are so full and we might need to be rolled back to Scott City.

After a full year of hard work, it is so rewarding for our students to be able to celebrate their accomplishments and have some fun! Thank you to everyone who has celebrated alongside us and cheered us on!

BBN made it to Arrowhead Stadium for the Kansas Association of Broadcasters Student Seminar! They are so excited for a fun day of learning and networking. Plus, at the end of the day, they will accept their State Awards.

BBN is excited to share that our students have earned 13 State Broadcasting Awards! They have all worked really hard and it shows.

For these awards, they compete against every program in the state, regardless of size. This year, SCHS was the smallest school recognized. We like to say that we don’t keep up with the big guys, we show them how it is done. 💪

Congratulations to all of these students! They will travel to Kansas City to accept their awards in a few weeks.

We are so proud of our Beaver Boys Basketball Team for how well they played this season. They went from being the team that people underestimated to State Qualifiers.

BBN is packed up headed to State! Our crew is keeping a positive attitude and are determined to make this an experience they will never forget.

We are also very thankful to the SCHS Music Department for letting us hitch a ride with them! All of our students are an important part of the Game Day experience. They might not be on the court, but they are a Part Of The Team. 💙🦫

Just a reminder, if you see any links promoting a live stream on Facebook, they are more than likely fraudulent. NFHS will be streaming the game for a fee, but we recommend going to the NFHS website directly to access it.

We are saddened to let our supporters know that KSHSAA has denied our request to broadcast the boys Sub-State Quarterfinal Game. They have made it clear that student media is not allowed to live broadcast. Our students are very disappointed. They have been with the team all season, yet we are not permitted to share this moment with them.

We are still going to attend the game and do our jobs, just like always. To comply with KSHSAA rules, we will be recording the event and will post it to our YouTube Channel afterwards.

We recommend listening to the radio coverage by Adam Kadavy on Mix 94.5. to get live information about the game.

Truly, thank you all for your support this season. Our program wouldn't be what it is without our community! Our program is not just about broadcasting high school sports and the profit gained from it. We are for educating and empowering the next generation of media professionals and giving them a learning experience that they can take anywhere. Hopefully, we can lead a change in our state so student media is supported at any level.
