Being a parent to boys...
They will drive you crazy, whether it's pranks or the newest sound effect they have come up with that makes you want to pull your hair out.
They will test your patience, finding every single last nerve you can possibly have just because they find it amusing.
They will turn your hair gray faster than you can say stop. Whether it's attempting to be Evel Knievel and showing you their new trick, or the famous "Look mom!" while you just hope and pray nobody has blood on them.
What they don't tell you about being a parent to boys...
They will love you in ways you never thought possible, they may show it differently, but they do. They will want to wrestle and nit pick a fight with you, they may give you a flower from your own garden, they may want to get into water wars and mud fights but it's there. It is there when they need you, when it's scraped knees and bumps, and when it's sickness and confused emotions. It's the fit of giggles at bedtime, but their laughter is making you laugh now.
They will follow you, EVERYWHERE but they will soak up anything and everything you teach them, whether you think they are listening or not. Letting them watch you do tasks and talking to them, is the best lesson they could ask for. Changing your oil? Let them watch, let them ask questions, let them hand you a tool.
Building something? Let them help hammer a nail, or hold a board.
We only have so many years where they are around us all the time, and we take for granted every single one. Every moment is priceless. Every long day is worth the easy ones.
What nobody tells you about being a parent to boys is that... You will always have a friend, a buddy, a tag-a-long, a prankster, your very own Evel Knievel, and you will love every second of it.
