State Sen. John Albers, chair of the Senate Public Safety Committee, is working with police chiefs and sheriffs’ associations on a task force focused on privacy, accountability and public safety.

Albers says the goal isn’t to abandon the technology, but to address how it is accessed and used.

“We’re not going to throw the baby out with the bathwater,” Albers said, calling the technology an “invaluable crime-fighting tool.”

A bipartisan legislative committee is examining pharmacy benefit managers, or PBMs, after independent pharmacists raised concerns about reimbursement rates, patient steering and the financial pressure facing rural pharmacies.

PBM representatives dispute those claims, saying their negotiations have saved Georgia payers billions of dollars and help control drug costs.

The committee is also reviewing the federal 340B drug discount program as lawmakers consider potential reforms ahead of the next legislative session.

A new GLAAD study found a sharp generational divide in HIV awareness. While 60% of Gen X respondents said they felt knowledgeable about HIV, just 31% of Gen Z respondents said the same.

The survey also found that 70% of Americans had not seen a character living with HIV in a TV show or movie during the past year.

Advocates say better education and more realistic representation could help challenge outdated ideas that continue to fuel stigma.
