Synecdoche Publishing

Synecdoche Publishing We are a royalty publisher with the primary goal of providing an opportunity for writers to prove themselves and gain experience.

Synecdoche Publishing is based off of commission:
Authors receive 50% of future royalties. Primary editors receive 25% of future royalties. Secondary editors receive 5% of future royalties. Synecdoche Publishing is designed to ensure quality work, not only by employing skilled editors, but also because editors only earn money if their projects earn money. This means that editors will only take on

a project if they truly believe in its artistic value. Then they will pour all of their skills and knowledge into working with the artist to produce the best project possible. If you have a project you would like us to take a look at visit synecdochepublishing.wordpress.com and you may fill out the form provided on the “Contact” page with a short (1,000 words or less) description of your project. The description should include a basic outline of the project's content, genre/format expectations, and intended audience. Make sure to check the “Submission” box at the bottom of the contact form before submitting. Your project description will then be made available to all Synecdoche editors and if it sparks the interest of one of them, they will contact you promptly. Synecdoche functions by employing a web of editors to seek out quality art which they believe deserves a chance to be viewed by the public. The editors are then responsible for producing and overseeing the entire project. Primary editors do not earn a consistent payroll. Instead, they earn the rights to 25% of all future royalties which their projects collect. If they complete all of the required tasks on their own, the entire 25% is theirs, but they also have the option of trading a piece of their 25% for assistance from other Synecdoche editors (the details of this are further explained when applying for an editor position). For this reason, we do require editors to be qualified in at least one valuable publishing skill: copy editing or graphic design. If you are interested in a job as an editor then email your resume to [email protected].

In honor of my 35th bday, I decided to share the flagship story of my (and Giles Hovseth's) short story book on the KCMI FM blog for free. I explain the heart of the story and how it came to be as well. This story is straightforwardly titled "My Dad is Dead". Here it is if you're interested:
🖊 💘 📃

In the Christian community in my small home town of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, my dad (Dan Hovseth) was well known. He was the type of guy who was either loved or hated. He never backed down from a lively debate and since the time he accepted Jesus as his Savior when I was five years old, he was a fierc

Last night was peaceful. The sun was just below the horizon, leaving a soft glow in the distance. The heat of the day had diminished to a comfy refreshing warmth. String lights hung from the trees, accenting the aesthetic forged by the crackling campfire. Fireflies floated around like quiet, gentle fireworks, dotting the air with glittery sparks. Soft, uplifting songs about love and life from the 70's were playing over the portable speaker, warming our hearts. Then I saw it, sitting weightlessly on the bark of a massive tree. It's silhouette was outlined by the glow of a hanging light bulb--a spotlight--while it's long delicate front legs slowly stretched out, waving trance-like through the magnolia scented air. I felt at peace as I admired the beauty of it all. And for that moment, those shining few seconds where I stepped out of reality, I and the spider were no longer at odds.

"Jackson’s Song" is a young man’s journey from brokenness to redemption.
💙
Jackson believed he would never be able to beat the demons of doubt, fear, and insecurity that controlled his life. He chose to end the pain in the only way he thought possible. It was the wrong decision. His choice made things worse. Jackson was faced with more sorrow than he ever thought possible. He was up against a trial that no one--especially a teenager--should have to face. Thankfully he didn’t have to do it alone. Jackson met a small group of people who breathed hope, faith, and--most of all--acceptance, into his life. During this healing journey, Jackson learned how to accept himself, and how to help others who were also suffering from mental illness.

Will be available in E-Book and Softcover on Amazon.

September author's challenge #3: Shout-out to some authors of Synecdoche Publishing!
♡♡♡
For not only being talented writers but for also being amazing people to work with! (In order of publication date)
♡♡♡
- "Society of Immortals" is a supernatural trilogy which delves into the psychological aspects of living forever while taking the readers on an exciting action packed ride.

- "Smoldering Ruins" is a coming of age, super-powered revenge thriller and is just a small peak into the "No Holds Barred" Universe.

- "The Cave of Darkness" is the 2nd book in her sci-fi/religious fiction trilogy which throws readers into an unforgetable adventure involving a romantic triangle and actual fights against demons.

Danielle Grift's was a teenager when she wrote and published "Distant Starlight". It is a Christian fiction story about a teenager who has been abandoned by her father, lost her best friend, and feels alone in the world.

All of these books are available on Amazon!

September author's challenge! Prompt #1: I am... a writer, a publisher, and an author.

It took me years to answer that question this way. In spite of having my first book published 7 years ago and owning an indie publishing company for 5, if people asked me what I did for a living I'd answer with whatever job was making me money:
"I drive semi-trucks and school busses... a radio anouncer... I work nights at a hotel... a receptionist at a dentist office... etc."
But all of that was meant to simply keep me alive while I worked at finding a way to survive off my writing. Now I actually live off of my freelance writing work, but I still should have been answering this question this way, long before that.
