We have a rare opportunity to see not one, but two comets, in addition to an ongoing meteor shower all on the same nights!

Here's the breakdown with info you need to know:

✅Comet C/2025 A6 LEMMON is naked eye visible. You should look on the western horizon about 30-60 minutes after sunset for best viewing. View it NOW through about October 24th.

✅The Orionids Meteor shower peaks on the evening of October 20th / morning of the 21st. You can see between 10-20 meteors per hour. There is no one set direction to look, but we recommend laying down and letting your eyes adjust to the night sky for 20 minutes to maximize viewing potential.

✅Comet C/2025 R2 SWAN is not naked eye visible. You will need a telescope or a pair of binoculars to see it. Look on the west-southwest horizon about 30-60 minutes after sunset for best viewing potential.

📍I-265/I-65 in Clark Co.

⚠ Beginning on or after Friday, October 17, crews plan to conduct overnight (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.) rolling stoppages on the eastbound I-265 off-ramp to I-65 to complete sign structure installation and removal work in Clark County. Work at this location is expected to take up to one night, weather permitting.

Bald Eagles are flourishing once again across Indiana! 🦅

Bald eagles were once heavily endangered from Indiana in the 1970s from a rapidly declining population, habitat loss, & reproduction set backs due to DDT pesticides. Since that period Bald Eagles have dramatically increased once again across the Hoosier State!

Between 1985 & 1989 73 chicks were released at Monroe lake. Indiana's first successful nest occurred in 1991 at Monroe Lake & Cagles Mill lake which was the first successful nest recorded since the late 1800s according to the DNR.

In 1991 there were only 5 confirmed nesting territories established in Indiana. Fast forward to today there are over 350! Note this map data is from 2020. There are probably new nesting areas not mentioned. Nesting territories do not refer to a single nest or sighting.
