With a little bit of practice with a diode laser and some illustrator skills, you can really create just about anything. This custom gift card holder for someone going to university of North Dakota turned out great.

I’m working on a new sheath for the SEE4 hunting knife. Next, I’m gonna work on creating a kayak class for hanging it on your backpack strap.

I live how well these croc charms turned out. Very close to the original art work.

When I make a custom knife handle, one of the hardest parts is rough, cutting the hardwood close enough, but not too close so that I can shape it and get it perfect with the existing full tang of the knife. This time I decided to create the handle shape on the computer and see if my little 20 W dial laser could cut through the cherry hardwood. It took 12 passes, but it turned out pretty awesome and will save me a good hour in creating the knife handle.

Sadly, this past week I lost my favorite wallet. In addition to having to replace my drivers license and all my cards, I had to create a new every day wallet. This time I decided to go a more minimalistic approach. I think it turned out pretty nice.

For the last year, each knife sheath I made I’ve sketched out what I wanted and then cut it on my bandsaw. This has worked pretty well, but has resulted in each being just slightly different. This time I creating a design on the computer, then using my laser i cut an acrylic template that could be placed over the pressed Kydex to ensure the holes and outer dimension is exactly the same. This turned out pretty awesome and I may do this with all of the knife sheets that I create.

It’s been a little while since I did a custom knife, but here’s my latest chef knife. The handle was made out of some cherry wood that my brother gave me. I think it turned out really nice. It has a nice weight balance to it.

In addition to your writing software, I love to design stuff in illustrator and edit photos in Photoshop. This photo I took a design I did for a shirt and laid it out on a piece of stock photography. It’s a fun challenge, getting the perspective correct and the image blended into the shirt with the correctshadows and highlights.

Over the last few years I’ve created a ton of different designs for wallets and thought it would be cool to share some of these designs as acrylic templates that people could use to make their own. I use my laser to cut out the acrylic, ensuring that all of the holes are perfectly positioned. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1843291184
