Sometimes someone reflects your impact back to you in words you never could have written for yourself. ❤️

Rachel left this on a post I shared, and I’m deeply grateful.

Years of friendship, conversations, ideas, stages, connections and becoming.

Thank you, Rachel, for seeing me—and for putting words to what I hope people experience when we share space.

Here’s to our future selves. ✨🥂

What if someone is waiting for the message you keep telling yourself you’re not ready to share?

Not because you need another credential.
Not because you need to become someone different.
And certainly not because you need to be perfect.

Sometimes the next step is simply trusting that what you have lived, learned and know is already valuable.

Your voice matters.

And visibility isn’t about being known by everyone.

It’s about becoming clear enough to be understood, congruent enough to be trusted, and courageous enough to be seen by the right people.

I never want you to be the best-kept secret.

So I’m curious… what message are you ready to stop hiding?

Where Trusted Voices Rise

I asked two questions and the room went quiet. ✨

First one: are you more concerned with what you think of you, or what others think of you?

Second one: those twelve hour days, those vacation days you worked straight through, is any of that actually required?

Or would eight rested hours beat twelve exhausted ones?

Because most of the people I work with are not staying late to finish work.

They are staying late to be seen staying late.

Then hour ten hits and they are talking to whoever walks past, just to stay awake.

Rest is not the reward you get after the work. It is what makes the work good.

Comment RESET if you already know which hours you would give back.

We promote the person who hit the biggest number.

Then we call it leadership and hand them nothing.

No training. No language for it. Just a title and a team.

Meagan Hopper spent nearly 20 years in design and construction, a decade of it leading teams at Disney, and she said it plainly on this week's episode: we promote high producers, not leaders.

Here is the problem. Your top producer knows one path to results.

So they start building a small army of copies of themselves.
And every reason you hired those other people quietly disappears.

Leading is not teaching people to be you.

It is finding the way each person gets to their best work.

Most burnout advice starts with box breathing.

If that feels too woo-woo for your industry, Meagan Hopper says start somewhere else entirely.

Her audit is almost too simple:

Write down every single thing you do in a day. The commute. The coffee. The emails. All of it.

Then put a green mark or a red mark next to each one.

Now look only at the red.

You are not rebuilding your life. You are adjusting the parts that drain you before you even walk into the building.

The awful drive is still an awful drive. But an audiobook makes it survivable. A rideshare twice a week makes it shorter.

Same day. Different capacity.

Comment RED, and I will send you the full episode.

The brave face is not professionalism.

It's a tell.

Meagan Hopper has watched leaders toe a line they don't believe in, hold the neutral expression, say the approved thing. Her point on this week's episode: people always know. Every time.

And once you've told someone something you didn't mean, you don't just lose a moment. You lose the ceiling.

She works from a three-tier framework. Boss assigns tasks. Manager shows up and supports. Leader is in it with them, and they know it.

Break trust, and you stay the boss. Forever. That's the highest you'll ever get with that person.

You can be professional and honest in the same sentence. You were never required to choose.

Comment TRUST below, and I'll send you the full conversation.

"Because I told you to" doesn't work anymore. The next generation won't accept it — and honestly, neither should the rest of us.

Meagan Hopper joins Jennifer Cavender on The SHINE Leadership Advantage to talk about what actually earns trust on a team: the five motivational archetypes, why the same task needs three different deliveries, and the real difference between a boss, a manager, and a leader.

Coming soon. 🌟

Here's something most leaders get backwards.
You think your job is to look like you've got it handled. Always composed, always in control, always the one with the answers.

But that's not where trust comes from.

Trust comes from the moment you stop performing and get honest. "I'm going through something hard right now. I'm not at my best. But watch how I grow through this."
That's the shift. You're no longer just telling your team to grow. You're showing them how, in real time, with your own struggle as the example.

It's the same reason a child learns better by watching than by being told. Your team is no different. When you lead with that kind of honesty, the culture changes. It gets more human, more open, more resilient.

Comment GROWTH and I'll walk you through how to lead like this without losing your team's respect.
