H**p and CBD are facing a turning point, and they need your help. ❗️
The USDA recently released new draft rules on the H**p industry. If unaddressed, H**p and CBD products as we know them could change majorly, or even disappear.
These are the most important points we need the USDA to hear from everyone in the community, including you.
1. The “Total THC” in h**p will now include THC-A. This is a non-psychoactive substance, and when included, will make it near impossible for farms to produce compliant H**p. Total THC should exclude THC-A, and be raised to 1% total THC.
2. Testing may be on “flower”, not including stems and leaves. Testing the entire plant, stem, leaves and flower, has ALWAYS been essential for H**p farming and in H**p programs around the country.
3. A 15 Day Pre Harvest Window isn’t feasible. The logistics of farming several acres, let alone several dozen or several hundred, make a 15 Day Window unrealistic for many farms. This should be increased to 30 days.
4. Testing should not be restricted to DEA certified labs. There is one lab or Oregon that is DEA certified: the Oregon State Crime Lab. Many existing labs are unable to be DEA certified because they also service ma*****na businesses, which is still a Schedule 1 Substance under the CSA. A single lab cannot handle 750+ growers in Oregon. Existing accredited labs should be permitted service providers.
