Shea fully embraces VR. 🤖 🏠 Shea Homes, “which ranks No. 34 on the 2025 Builder 100, has taken VR [virtual reality] to a new level with immersive and interactive tours of not only homes, but full communities.”

The Arizona division’s “first venture was Acclaim at Alamar in Avondale… The team divided the project into two phases. The first was a more basic VR for the internal frame-walk process, and the second was immersive VRs for marketing and selling.”

Ken Peterson, Shea’s Arizona VP of sales & marketing, said: “Overall, it was a huge success, so we quickly deployed two more communities, each time creating more efficiencies and launching new features.”

Did you know? Shea’s Arizona division “recently was recognized for its VR use in the ‘Best Innovative Use of Technology’ category at the Home Builders Association of Central Arizona’s MAME Awards competition.”

Darius Amiri, chairman of ’s immigration law department, takes to AZFamily about self-deportation plan. AZ Family reports: “The Department of Homeland Security said individuals who self-deport will receive a free flight back to their home country plus a $1,000 payment, once their return has been verified.”

Deportation at a discount: “Deportations come at a high cost. DHS estimates it takes about $17,000 to detain and remove someone from the U.S. to their home country. While a plane ticket and a stipend could be more cost-effective,” Darius Amiri, chairman of Rose Law Group’s immigration law department, “doesn’t foresee any of his clients jumping at the opportunity. “One thousand bucks in comparison to getting legal status and staying here with your family is immeasurable,” said Amiri.”

What to do instead? Amiri “recommends that anyone considering self-deportation should consult with an immigration lawyer first, warning people that returning to the U.S. later may be far more difficult than officials are making it seem.”

WATCH:

While a plane ticket and a stipend could be more cost-effective, another immigration attorney, Darius Amiri, doesn’t foresee any of his clients jumping at the opportunity. “One thousand bucks in comparison to getting legal status and staying here with your family is immeasurable,” said Amiri.

Subdivision site reduced in Maricopa

-Background:
In 2024, Jim and Matt Smith were “looking to sell more than 420 acres of farmland at the northeast corner of Steen and Porter Roads to build a new subdivision.”

-Plans slashed in half:
Stagecoach Springs at Smith Farms “called for the construction of 1,100 single-family homes and 990 apartment or townhome units.” But an “industrial land sale in October adjusted those plans,” and a "new proposal shows the site to be nearly half the size of the original.” After the tweaks, the development will be “comprised of residential, commercial and mixed-use parcels. The new plans still manage to squeeze 1,100 single-family homes onto 185 acres. On another 25 acres would be 750 apartment or townhome units.”

-Timeline:
“A project narrative read the Smiths plan to ‘continue farming a portion of the site for as long as possible’ before selling it to a developer or homebuilder.”
