Possible asbestos under old screed?

Renovating a 1960s home in Belgium and found this loose, sandy/friable layer under the old screed. I’m getting it tested, but we already removed some without precautions, so I’m a bit worried.

Has anyone seen this before? Could it be magnesite/xylolite or old insulation material?

Exterior block wall painting tips

We’re looking to paint this block wall ourselves since stucco quotes are out of budget. Planning to use a Graco Magnum X5 sprayer.

Any tips on prep, primer, and paint for exterior block in Florida humidity? Should we back-roll after spraying, and is elastomeric masonry paint recommended? Also, would rolling the top rows and spraying the rest look noticeably different?

I genuinely don’t know how other people manage to paint without getting it all over the brush handle, their hands, and somehow half the room. 😂 I start off trying to be neat, and two minutes later the handle looks like it was part of the project too. At this point I’m convinced the paint has a mind of its own.

How do people keep this from happening?

Questions about possible asbestos before demolition

We’re in the process of buying a property with a few buildings that will need to be demolished. We had a friend/contractor walk through, and he mentioned the possibility of asbestos in this house.

I’m not sure if he actually saw something specific or was just saying it should be checked because of the age of the building. Is asbestos something you can usually identify visually, or does it always need to be tested?

I know testing is the only way to know for sure, but I’d appreciate any advice on what areas/materials are most concerning before we move forward with demo.

Renovation question — possible asbestos?

We’re renovating a 1970s building that used to be a cake shop and pulled up the old vinyl flooring. The epoxy company mentioned possible asbestos under the flooring, but others are saying it just looks like old adhesive/leveling material.

I know photos can’t confirm anything, but does this look concerning enough to test before moving forward?

Help identifying possible asbestos

This area was marked as containing asbestos on our home inspection. The previous owners said they had it fixed, but I’m not sure what I’m actually looking at here.

Can anyone help tell what part might be the asbestos-containing material, and whether this looks like it was properly repaired or just covered/taped over? I know testing or a professional inspection is the only way to know for sure, but I’d appreciate any insight before we move forward.

Does this ceiling tile look like it could contain asbestos?

I was helping look for something at my mom’s place and handled this old ceiling tile before thinking about it. Now I’m a little worried about possible asbestos exposure.

I know you can’t confirm from a photo and testing is the only real answer, but does this look like something I should be concerned about? Any advice is appreciated.

Would you buy a house with asbestos?
Hello folks, looking for general sentiments here. We're looking at an old house (100 years yikes). There is asbestos on the hvac system and maybe on the water heater. There is also some old vinyl flooring in the kitchen and bathrooms. I'm overwhelmed by the asbestos and just want to hear how others think about this. I could also see some asbestos when peering into the vents in the living area. Nothing extreme, but the tape (?) edges where the pipe tapered out. I'm including a pic of what I believe to be asbestos, but it was in some other areas too.

While prepping and painting our kitchen, I found this ugly spot above the window.
I originally assumed it was old wallpaper peeling, but now I’m thinking it might be a drywall or tape issue instead. It’s definitely showing through the fresh paint and I’d like to fix it correctly rather than just cover it up.
I’m not sure what failed here or what the repair would involve.

What do you think is going on, and how would you repair it?

We need a practical way to cover this wall opening without losing access. The hole is about 24x36, but the metal bar in the middle makes a normal access panel tricky. Drywall feels like more work than we want to take on, and a big plastic panel has been hard to find. At this point, we’re just hoping for something clean enough and functional.

Any simple ideas that don’t require expert-level skills?
