The Port of Tillamook Bay Board voted 4 to 1 against repairing the storm damaged roof at Hangar B after months of financial review and consultation with experts. Officials said the Port would still be responsible for an estimated $1.3 million local match even if FEMA funding becomes available, with additional long term maintenance costs making the historic structure financially unsustainable.

The Tillamook Air Museum will remain closed while immediate safety concerns are addressed, including removal of the damaged hanging roof section. Port commissioners said the decision was difficult given the community’s connection to the World War II era hangar, but stated the financial burden and future risks were too great to move forward with repairs.
