This Happens in 1 of Every 3 Pregnancies πΆ
πΆ If you've ever heard "the cord was around the neck" β here's what that really means.
It sounds scary, but it's incredibly common: about 1 in 3 babies has the umbilical cord loop around their neck or body at some point during pregnancy. This isn't a sign of danger β it's simply a result of your baby moving and turning naturally in the womb. π
The cord is protected by a soft, gel-like cushion called Wharton's jelly, which keeps the blood vessels safe even when the cord loops around. In the vast majority of cases, the loop stays loose, and blood flow continues normally the entire pregnancy. Doctors simply monitor the baby's heart rate closely during labor, just as a precaution. π
Knowing the facts can bring real peace of mind to expecting parents. πͺβ¨
