FOLK is out June 6th, featuring my takes on seven different hundred-year-old (or more) folk songs. I sourced each song from Carl Sandburg’s The American Songbag, a book originally published in 1927 to chronicle folk songs from all across the United States. I had a lot of fun picking out these songs and making them my own. Hope you check it out!

This is my dad.🙂 Growing up, the highlight of Sahr family gatherings were always the stories my dad and his two brothers told about their childhood. Hearing these stories as a kid was like opening a fairy tale and stepping into another world. It was magical. “Larry & Sons,” the next episode of Folk’s Tales, brings these stories to life with a lovingly crafted musical score and interviews with both my uncles and my dad. It’s a project with deeply personal connections and universally relatable themes. After all, we all come from a family.

“Larry & Sons” releases Monday, November 25th.

My upcoming EP, Awake Sleeper, drops this Friday, August 4th. Listen on any music streaming service.

After hearing a sermon Ephesians 5:14 earlier this year, the passage has been stuck in my brain. The verse is pulling from several places in the old testament to present this beautiful picture of death, life, and rebirth as essential, inextricable aspects of following Christ. In a season where I have been grappling with old & unwieldy guilt and shame, the truths and metaphors in these verses have brought me a lot of comfort.

Arise//Shine (the first track of the EP) and Awake Sleeper (the final track of the EP) both use Ephesians 5:14 and some of the verses it’s referencing (Isaiah 26, Isaiah 60, and Malachi 4) very directly in the lyrics. Furthermore, the whole album has been shaped, to some extent, by these verses. Listen this Friday to hear for yourself 🙂
