Intricacies of Being a Business Development Professional and Project Manager in the Music Industry!
As a booking agent with Off The Hook Management representing & .adams.music , I’ve gotten used to wearing many hats. From strategizing long-term growth plans to managing the minute details of an artist’s tour, the dual roles of business development professional and project manager constantly keeps me on my toes.
Business Development: This side of my work is all about relationships, research, and vision. Whether it’s identifying new venues, negotiating contracts, or exploring partnerships, my goal is to create opportunities that align with each artist’s goals while growing the reach of our roster. It’s a mix of creative thinking, forging relationships, and anticipating trends in the entertainment industry.
Project Management: This is where the vision becomes reality. Managing tours involves juggling logistics, timelines, and a thousand moving parts. From confirming show dates to ensuring the travel schedule runs smoothly, it’s about finding the balance between precision and adaptability. Every successful event is the result of collaboration with promoters, artists, and countless behind-the-scenes professionals. Did I mention spreadsheets?! 😍
But what makes this job so rewarding is the intersection of passion and impact. I get to help artists turn their dreams into realities, connect audiences to incredible live experiences, and build meaningful connections within the music world- as well as getting to be a part of the music industry without having a lick of talent myself (unless you count singing by myself in the car or in the shower, of course).
I’m so grateful for what I get to do and for the artists I currently and will potentially work with down the road.
