The Dala horse has long been a symbol of strength, love, and good fortune.

I wanted to take that classic symbol and give it a fresh, modern twist. Our clear acrylic laser-cut Dala horse ornament blends the beauty of tradition with the simplicity of Scandinavian design. Clean lines, timeless shape, and a touch of sparkle that catches the light beautifully on any tree.

It’s a piece that feels both nostalgic and contemporary — something you can keep out all season long (or even year-round!).

I love creating ornaments that carry meaning, tell a story, and bring a little Scandinavian tradition into your home. ❤️

There’s something so magical about being outside during the holidays. ❄️✨

In Scandinavian culture, there’s a word for this: friluftsliv (pronounced free-loofts-leeve). It means “open-air living,” and it’s all about embracing nature in every season — finding joy, calm, and connection by simply being outdoors. It’s a huge part of Scandinavian life, and I love bringing that spirit into my own holiday traditions.

Some of my favorite moments this time of year happen outside — visiting holiday markets, walking the neighborhood to see all the lights, or taking a cozy stroll bundled up in my favorite beanie.

Outdoor holiday markets will always have my heart. The people, the music, the food, the handmade treasures, it’s everything I love about the holidays. ❤️

There’s a special kind of joy that comes from stepping outside and soaking in the magic of winter — a little friluftsliv to warm the soul.

Do you have a favorite outdoor holiday tradition?

In Scandinavia, crafts aren’t just decorations — they’re shared moments. ✂️✨

Some of my favorite memories come from the simplest things… folding paper, weaving hearts, or creating something beautiful with my hands. Today I’m making a Froebel star — a classic Scandinavian paper star that has been part of Christmas traditions for generations. It’s delicate, calming, and always makes me smile. ⭐️

When I lived in Copenhagen, I attended so many ornament-making parties. It’s truly a tradition woven into their culture — friends gathering around tables with paper, candles, and warm drinks, spending hours folding, laughing, and creating together. Those moments left such an imprint on me.

And now, it’s something I love to do with my own friends and family during the holidays. There’s something so comforting about sitting down to craft — no rush, no pressure, just time together, making memories. ❤️

That’s why my children’s books include simple, meaningful craft activities like creating your own woven hearts. I want families to feel that same joy of slowing down, working with their hands, and building traditions that last.

Because the most treasured things we pass down aren’t the crafts themselves… but the memories we made while creating them. ✨

Do you have a holiday craft or tradition you love to make?

Our mission has always been simple: to keep Scandinavian heritage alive, one story and one meaningful heart at a time. ✨

So many of us grew up with those little traditions that made home feel special — paper hearts in the windows, candles glowing on dark winter nights, the smell of warm spices drifting through the house. Those moments stay with us. They remind us of love, connection, and where we come from. ❤️

Every heart, ornament, ribbon, and design I create is meant to carry that feeling forward — a way to connect generations, celebrate our roots, and share the symbols and stories that never fade.

There’s something so special about supporting small businesses — knowing that every purchase helps a dream grow, a family thrive, and a tradition continue.

At Scandinavian Hearts, each piece is made by hand or thoughtfully designed, created with love, intention, and the warmth of Scandinavian tradition. It’s more than a product — it’s a story, a connection, and a way to bring meaning into your home.

Thank you for choosing small, supporting handmade, and celebrating designs created with heart. Your support truly means the world. ❤️

One of my favorite traditions is going out to our local neighborhood for Shop Small Saturday. I just love strolling and seeing all of their fun products. I always find extra special gifts for others (and myself).

The woven heart has always been one of my favorite Scandinavian traditions — such a simple little craft, yet filled with so much meaning. Love, care, connection… all passed down from one generation to the next. ❤️🤍

That’s exactly why I wrote Anna and the Woven Hearts. I wanted to share this tradition with my own kids in a way they could understand and feel, and it’s been so special to see other families connect with it too.

Through Anna’s eyes, children get to discover the beauty behind each fold, the magic of creating something with their hands, and the joy of sharing with others. ✨

This book is truly a piece of my heart — lovingly illustrated, and created to share stories, make special memories and bring generations together. 📖💛

It means the world to me every time you share this book or write a review.

Happy Thanksgiving. 🤍

I am feeling deeply thankful for each of you who has supported Scandinavian Hearts and welcomed our books, hearts, and ornaments into your homes.

Seeing so many familiar faces at Julefest last weekend — and hearing your stories about how these pieces have become part of your family traditions — was such a gift. Your kind words, encouragement, and support mean more than you know.

Thank you for choosing meaningful gifts, for appreciating tradition, and for supporting our small business built with love and intention.

I’m so grateful for you today and always. Wishing you a Thanksgiving filled with warmth, gratitude, and togetherness.

In Scandinavia, the holidays aren’t about perfection, they’re about togetherness. Families gather to bake cookies (Pepperkakke are our favorite to make), weave paper hearts and light candles that chase away the winter dark. ✨

Each tradition, from handmade ornaments to songs around the tree, carries the same message: love, warmth and time spent with those who matter most.

This season, bring a little Nordic magic into your own home one heartfelt moment at a time. ❤️

Every year we love to bake Pepperkaker Cookies and make ornaments.

There’s something magical about taking the time to wrap a gift with care: adding a handwritten tag, tying a perfect bow and finishing it with a beautiful Scandinavian ribbon. ✨

Each ribbon in our collection is inspired by Scandinavian design simple, timeless and full of heart. Whether you’re wrapping a holiday present, a birthday surprise, or a “just because” gift, our ribbons add that extra touch of love that makes it feel personal. 💛

Because when you give a gift that’s beautifully wrapped, it’s not just about what’s inside it’s about showing thought, care and connection.

Have you started wrapping your gifts yet? 🎁

Hygge (pronounced hoo-gah) isn’t just about candles and blankets, it’s a feeling. ✨

It’s the quiet joy of slowing down, being present, and finding comfort in the simple things. A cozy evening with family. A warm cup of tea. A handmade ornament that reminds you of home. ❤️

In true Scandinavian fashion, hygge invites us to create spaces and moments that fill us with warmth, not just for the season, but for life.

How do you bring hygge into your home this time of year? 🌲

Did you know the woven heart, or julehjerte, is one of Denmark’s oldest Christmas traditions? It’s said that Danish author Hans Christian Andersen crafted the very first one and the oldest woven heart, dating back to 1860, still hangs in the H.C. Andersen Museum in Odense.

I love that something so simple a heart woven together by hand has carried the same message for generations: love, togetherness and the joy of giving.

Our laser-cut woven heart ornament was inspired by that tradition. It’s a modern take on a timeless design, carefully made to last and bring a little piece of Scandinavian history into your home.
