A Florida jury ruled in favor of Megan Thee Stallion on Monday in her lawsuit against blogger Milagro Gramz, whose real name is Milagro Cooper, stemming from online harassment and false claims made after Megan was shot by R&B artist Tory Lanez in 2020.
After reviewing the evidence, the federal jury five men and four women found Milagro liable on all three claims: defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and promoting a deepfake video targeting Megan. Jurors also concluded that Milagro coordinated with Tory Lanez to help spread damaging narratives against the rapper.
The jury awarded Megan $75,000 in damages, marking a significant legal win as she continues to fight back against years of online harassment following the highly publicized shooting case.
However, the verdict came with a legal twist. While jurors ruled Milagro liable for defamation, they also determined she qualifies as a member of the media. Under Florida law, media defendants must receive prior notice before a defamation lawsuit is filed. Megan’s legal team did not provide that notice, which means the defamation claim could be dismissed by the judge despite the jury’s finding pending the court’s final ruling.
Even if the defamation portion is thrown out, the verdict for intentional infliction of emotional distress and promotion of a deepfake remains intact, meaning Milagro would still be legally responsible for harmful conduct directed at Megan.
The case highlights growing legal consequences for bloggers and influencers accused of crossing the line between commentary and harassment especially when digital manipulation and coordinated smear campaigns are involved.
