Satan doesn’t always make a lie look like a lie. Sometimes he makes a lie look like truth.
From Genesis 3 to Satan quoting Scripture while tempting Jesus in Matthew 4, the Bible shows us that deception can be subtle—even religious.
That’s why context matters. If we don’t understand what Scripture actually says, we can be misled by someone else… or even convince ourselves that the Bible says what we want it to say.
Exegesis draws meaning OUT of Scripture. We shouldn’t read our own meaning INTO it.
Jesus’ response to Satan? “It is written.”
Know the truth. Know Scripture. Don’t settle for a verse taken out of context. 📖✝️
