NBUA
It is with profound sadness, that I announce that we lost another long-time good friend of the NBUA. Brian Gooch passed away Wed Jan 3. Brian was an active member within the NBUA from 1980-2016. Brian has remained as Emeritus status with NBUA since 2016. He is still in Arbiter today. His wife Evelyn just reached out to Jody & myself with the news of his passing. Brian was 80 years young.
Evelyn has asked for privacy at this time. She said, “She has so much to do!”. Evelyn asked me to pass on that there will be two Memorial Services. One in Green Valley AZ, where they reside. The other at the Nile Shriner Golf Course in Seattle. Dates and information to follow. On a personal note, Brian was both my Mentor on/off the field & in the Boardroom which we served together. Hank Margeson, Gary Coy, Rich Johnson, Kris Carlstedt, Jay Neff, Fritz Timm & so many others served with Brian on the Board of Directors. Brian served on the NBUA BOD for 35 years.
Please keep Brian, Evelyn Gooch and their families in your thoughts & prayers. Brian will be missed by so many from the baseball, basketball & UW Usher world of sports. Brian was also a Pac 8/10 baseball official. Brian & other members of the NBUA, were selected to officiate MLB Baseball in Seattle (in the Kingdome), during the strike many years ago. Feel free to pass this on to others that knew Brian over the years. Incidentally, Brian & Evie just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, just before Thanksgiving. 53 guests from all over the country were present, including my wife Jody & I. A memorable event for sure.
