It’s so amazing to look back at everything we’ve accomplished, all while knowing that every minute of our time and each carefully selected detail has empowered small businesses and their success — both locally and nationally.

I used to cringe at icebreakers; now they’re a highlight in my week. 🧊🔨

For Day 19 of the 25 Days of Hummingbird, we’re sharing our team’s tradition of starting our weekly meeting with a group icebreaker. We rotate each week, with each person selecting the icebreaker, giving us all an equal chance to come up with them. The only rule — don’t be boring. ✨

From out-of-the-box hypotheticals and sharing childhood memories to office show-and-tell and prompts that require us to share a supplementary picture (for example: what’s the best and worst picture your partner has taken of you), our icebreakers start each meeting with laughter and connection. They are one of many ways we maintain a tight-knit team despite working remotely in different corners of the United States.

Behind door 17 is a peek into life in Boston and a recap of 2025 for one of our hummingbirds, Julia! ✨💜

In addition to celebrating 2 years with our Charm this past July, Julia’s whirlwind of a year was filled with weekend trips with friends and family for weddings and celebrations alike, and even a milestone trip to France, marking Julia’s first time in Europe! As a 2026 bride-to-be who got engaged at the end of 2024, this year was also filled with wedding planning and its exciting events — like saying yes to a wedding dress and wedding venue. A long engagement means lots of time for the little details! 💖

Andi Lucas Andi Lucas is the founder and owner of Hummingbird Marketing Services. She has more than 25 years of professional writing and editing experience as well as almost 15 years of digital marketing and web development experience. Originally from Ohio, Andi graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Arts in News Journalism. She has worked for consumer and trade magazines across the country—from Stonington, Maine, and Richmond, Va., to Boston and Los Angeles. Andi moved to Seattle in 2007 and worked in digital marketing and traffic management at Amazon.com until launching Hummingbird Marketing Services in 2015.

Nici Lucas Nici Lucas is the Marketing Director of Hummingbird Marketing Services and has more than 25 years of business operations, marketing, writing, and management experience. She graduated from Case Western Reserve with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and spent 17 years working for Diebold Inc. Being both left- and right-brained, Nici combines business operations and management experience with her creative side in the areas of photography, social media, branding, and creative writing. Based in our Cleveland headquarters, Nici can help grow your business by creating a new marketing and branding plan or strategizing to enhance your current marketing tactics.
