I'm looking forward to seeing you fam on that dancefloor once again in the Ole Hallowed 🚂 Bar Car, so many memories still live there, and it's fitting to celebrate my half-century within a space I called home for so long. I'll be sharing the decks with the incredible and our gracious host .dj

With this piece, I attempted to capture the power and beauty of a breaking wave, frozen in that moment between gathering and its crash and release. Waves are often a meditation for me, and I find myself in reflection on the transition from calm to rise to power to crash, watching the barrel form a threshold between calm and chaos, between what we know and what's yet to come.
The interplay between cool blues and warm sunset oranges creates a dialogue of opposing forces: water meets the dying fire of the day, fluid meets horizon. The thick, gestural paint application doesn't just depict the wave, it becomes the wave, with paint rising and falling across the surface like actual water catching light. Each stroke follows the water's natural momentum, creating a physical texture that mirrors the subject itself.
This skateboard deck design bridges natural and urban worlds, honoring the shared language of surfing and skating, both disciplines about riding waves, reading momentum, and finding grace in powerful forces. The deck format suggests art as something living and mobile, meant for the world of movement and risk rather than static walls. It's a canvas that could theoretically return to the street, that understands the kinetic poetry of both ocean and concrete.
Here the wave carries weight, evoking both the ocean's majesty and its increasing power, the beauty we must protect and the forces we must respect. This is about our relationship with nature, as is any ride, whether on water or pavement. It's about being small before something vast, about finding our balance in the eternal rhythm of the tide, and understanding that we're always, in some way, reading forces larger than ourselves and choosing how to move through them.

This work immediately commands attention through its vertical and architectural approach to the overall form. The piece establishes a dialogue between structure and fluidity, presenting a figure that exists simultaneously as blueprint and living presence. There's a profound tension here between fragmentation and wholeness. The figure is both constructed and deconstructed, simultaneously emerging from and dissolving into the pattern.
The circular and looping forms carry particular weight, suggesting cycles of repetition and return, perhaps emotional patterns, habitual thoughts, or the circular nature of self-reflection. Some appear as halos or crowns, hinting at moments of transcendence or enlightenment within the structured existence. This work traverses identity formation, examining the self as something constantly assembled from competing influences, or perhaps the experience of feeling compartmentalized by external forces while maintaining an inner continuity.
The color palette is deliberate in its limited but effective approach: the cool neutrals establish objectivity and distance, while the gold injects urgency and human warmth. This creates a visual temperature gradient that mirrors the conceptual tension between system and spirit. The overall effect is neither wholly optimistic nor pessimistic, but rather honestly ambiguous, reflecting the authentic complexity of embodied experience.
The vertical orientation of the figure creates an inherent dignity, a standing presence that endures despite fragmentation. This formal choice suggests resilience, the capacity to maintain verticality, to stand, even while being pulled in multiple directions by competing forces. This is work that rewards sustained attention, revealing new relationships and rhythms with continued viewing. It speaks to the contemporary experience of navigating between structure and spontaneity, between who we're told to be and who we feel ourselves becoming.

“My battle is now the dancefloor”

Army Veteran, Visual Artist, DJ, Event Promoter, and EDM enthusiast:

I’ve spent well over 20+ years watching, learning, and listening to DJs and producers from around the world and especially those here in the PNW. After completing my time in the Army it was time to take what I’ve learned and be brave enough to get behind the decks and show people who I am. I was always a dancer first, using my “ear” listening for cues and transitions from the DJ’s that were playing, doing my own digging in crates and hunting for the sounds that I felt dancefloors crave. For me; It’s all just a mixed bag of dope beats, crazy funk, and tasty old school jam remixes that move your ass. I’ve been taking it all for a while now and rolling it all into a style that's 100% me, and that is something that genuinely I love to play. I’ve partied/ danced to some of the best, listened to the rest, and look to bring my own unique style to the masses. Enjoy the show!
