‘Buddy’ is a slasher comedy that turns a children’s show mascot into a malevolent kid killer. Definitely recommend for horror comedy fans who don’t mind things getting a little demented.

‘Idiots’ - formerly ‘The Sh*theads’ - is a road comedy movie about two sh****ads transporting a third sh****ad to rehab. It has some funny moments and Dave Franco is going for broke here but it never feels like more than the sum of its parts.

Macon Blair’s 'Idiots' is a funny anti-buddy road comedy powered by Dave Franco going ape, even if it feels a few big laughs short of a full tank.

'The Dog Stars' is a beautifully photographed post-apocalyptic thriller with an inspired cast (Jacob Elordi! Margaret Qualley! Josh Brolin! Guy Pearce!) that is rather good until it's semi-undone by a string of bizarre choices. Nevertheless, this things looks terrific for the vast majority of its runtime and gets my stamp of approval.

'Ridley Scott’s 'The Dog Stars is a visually stunning post-apocalyptic drama about grief, survival, and the search for something worth living for.
