NEED YOUR HELP! KajuFit Fundraiser

Hello Ohana, we are getting some of our students ready for the 2024 K.S.D.l Worldwide martial arts tournament in Las Vegas, July 19th.

If you’re local to Seattle, we are selling plates this Saturday. You can pre-order if you like, all moneys will go to our students for this trip. We will also accept small kine donations.

When: Saturday July 6th, 2024
Time: 10am-3pm
Where: 9460 Rainier Ave S

Food Plate $25
1. Chicken pancit, rice, two chicken lumpia, calamansi lemonade/Hawaiian sun
2. Rice, adobo, two chicken lumpia, calamansi lemonade/Hawaiian sun

Only taking pre orders for Individual long lumpia: 5 for $6, 10 for $12, 15 for $17, 20 for $22.

Why we are doing a fundraiser: Some of our students have very little resources but still make it to training and some have physical dissabilities, but they still make it to training. I’d like to help them by supporting them in providing the gift of experiencing competition, hard work, and Ohana (family).

Spotlight: Some of you know my student Robert, he has just lost his mother last month. Robert is like 47 yrs old and I still had to get permission from his mom to take him to Vegas. I mean I got cussed out but she would always give her blessing. He pays all the bills for him and his older brother(so many questions). He receives some assistance from the state for their dissABILITY but it’s not very much. He has to is pay $500 for her cremation cost, pay rent and food and he only works at a sandwich shop. I’m amazed at how much he has grown in Kaju and matured over the last 6 years I have trained him. He deserves to compete and travel, he has never been on a plane…so thank you in advance for your help and love.

Once again, we are asking for gifts of small kine donations or buy a plate.

Did you know that Lenny, who runs Kaju Fit Club on Rainier Ave, belongs to the family that started the Kajukenbo style of martial arts in Hawaii in the 1940's? Lenny is also an educator in Rainier Beach schools and a life coach for young people.

Big shout out to Kaju Fit Club for helping us create safe positive spaces for young people in the neighborhood. You guys are the best!

Happy Birthday GMa (ONI One) I guess you are 88 now and feeling a little lonely because you can’t get visitors rt now. It’s hard to stay away from you knowing that but I’d rather you be safe and healthy. You did so good charging your phone and answering most of your calls today I’m surprised you answered.

Eh sista, No need for yelling, turn da hearing aids on.

I hope we can talk story soon and go Hawaii like we planned. We can’t go Hawaii today though. Kuz today your bday we go next time yeah!

We Honor SGM DeChi Emperado Matriarch of the KSDI

There are many stories of what Sijo wanted for Kajukenbo and his organization, the Kajukenbo Self-Defense Institute. His attempts to have an organization that supported Kajukenbo throughout the world many times fell short. Some of the stories are true, some false, and many are half-truths depending on who is telling it. There is one thing that is absolute truth and consistent, Sijo was adamant about the KSDI remaining in the Emperado family.

Sijo stated in his own words, written and orally, that his sister will have control and make the decisions for his organization. She was charged with ensuring it remains in the Emperado family and would make the decisions for him once he has passed. His charge was beyond just running a tournament, it was full oversight of Kajukenbo, primarily Sijo’s KSDI. If there are any disputes to this charge it goes directly against the unwavering wishes of Sijo. SGM DeChi was loyal to Sijo his entire life. She cared for him during good times and bad, she was his greatest confidant and advisor. Many if not all Professors and Grandmasters promoted by Sijo himself have SGM DeChi’s signature on their certificate.

Sijo gave strict guidance written repeatedly over a full decade to recognize his sister as the Chief Administrator and head of the KSDI. Many state their loyalty to Sijo and those who do will respect the wishes of SGM DeChi Emperado. SGM DeChi Emperado is the main person that Sijo relied upon to carry out his wishes. Her goal is to help the senior leaders create and develop an organization for generations to come. Kajukenbo will live FOREVA!

Sijo states Professor Dechi Emperado will be the next head (Grand) master of the Kajukenbo system until she sees fit to turn over Grandmastership.

December 13, 1997: Declaration by Sijo Emperado

Sijo Emperado states upon his death he gives full power to Dechi Emperado to control all organizations worldwide that carry the name Kajukenbo.

Sijo Emperado states Dechi Emperado will make decisions for him upon his death to advise all instructors, high ranking or otherwise.

July 16, 2007: Sijo Emperado Declaration Notarized

On July 16, 2007, in the state of Nevada, County Clerk Pamela Johnson notarized the above declaration from December 13, 1997, stating it was acknowledged in front of her by Adriano Emperado. The following points were re-emphasized:

Come join us every Tuesday and Saturday for our newly added Jiu Jitsu classes being taught by Lotus Club Jiu Jitsu black belt Professor Enrique. Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program will help you build a strong foundation and fundamental understanding of all the common positions and concepts of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Professor Enrique Gomez is a black belt under Professor Eduardo Santos (Forth Degree black belt) and has been under his tutelage since white belt. Professor Enrique had the honor of receiving his black belt in Brazil at the Lotus Club Headquarters from the hands of Master Moises Muradi (coral belt 7th degree at the time) along with the blessings and presence of Master Ali Muradi (coral belt 7th degree) and Master Raul Vieira e Sousa (coral belt 7th degree). Professor Enrique has served as Public Relations Liaison for Lotus Club Jiu Jitsu NY and also as co-captain of the competition team during his tenure there. Lotus Jiu Jitsu has a very positive environment and is welcoming to all jiu jitsu practitioners as well as beginners to the gentle art. In addition to having a solid jiu jitsu program we strive to change lives for the better.
