第13章：救一自殺者

During a spiritual consultation session, I happened to glance up and saw a 𝐺𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡 𝐺ℎ𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝐼𝑚𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒 walk in. This ghost had attached itself to a poor man.
That one glance told me something was off, so I asked the man to step aside and wait until I finished my work [𝑖.𝑒. 𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑠𝑝𝑖𝑟𝑖𝑡𝑢𝑎𝑙 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑢𝑙𝑡𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑑𝑎𝑦]. I would speak to him afterward.
When I was done, I did a quick calculation with my fingers and understood the whole situation.
I asked, “You’re thinking of su***de, aren’t you?”
The man replied, “Grandmaster Lu, you’re truly remarkable. How did you know? I’ve been thinking about it for days, tossing and turning every night over the idea.”
I said, “Behind you is a 𝐺𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡 𝐺ℎ𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝐼𝑚𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒, waiting to drag you to hell the moment you kill yourself.”
He was visibly shaken upon hearing my words.
He told me that he used to be a teacher but was dismissed by the school for certain reasons. Since then, he had been unemployed.
He invested most of his life savings into a small business with a friend, only to lose everything when it failed.
His home became poverty-stricken. He had no roof over his head, no place to stand, and no food for the next day.
His wife ran off with his good friend.
This poor man had no special skills and was living in utter misery.
He would sit blankly under the lamp, sighing to the heavens, helpless and filled with sorrow.
He had even written a su***de poem:
𝑇𝑖𝑚𝑒𝑠 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑐𝑟𝑢𝑒𝑙 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑡𝑢𝑛𝑒 𝑔𝑟𝑖𝑚,
𝐸𝑎𝑐ℎ 𝑑𝑎𝑦 𝑎 𝑠𝑡𝑟𝑢𝑔𝑔𝑙𝑒 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑡𝑜 𝑙𝑖𝑣𝑒.
𝑀𝑦 𝑤𝑖𝑓𝑒 𝑟𝑎𝑛 𝑜𝑓𝑓, 𝑛𝑜𝑤 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑎 𝑗𝑜𝑘𝑒,
𝑁𝑜 𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑐𝑒 𝑜𝑛 𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑡ℎ 𝑡𝑜 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑜𝑟 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑦,
𝑊𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑑𝑒𝑎𝑡ℎ 𝑖𝑛 𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑑 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑏𝑖𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑟 𝑓𝑎𝑡𝑒.
He had already prepared to kill himself. But then he heard that Grandmaster Lu (Living Buddha Lu) could know both past and future, so he came to ask a question. He intended to hang himself after returning home.
I told him, “Your life is not meant to end yet.”
He asked, “Do I still have a future?”
I said, “Have you forgotten that you have previously studied nameology and character dissection*? Why not help people change their names and analyze their characters? That could support you. In the future, you’ll marry again and even have a son and a daughter. You’re destined for a modest but stable life — how can you throw that away so easily?”

His face lit up, “Grandmaster Lu, you are truly an accurate seer! Yes, I used to dabble in nameology and character dissection, but I’ve long let it go. What should I do now?”
I said, “I can teach you the Rice Divination method, how about that?”
“Yes, please!”
He then asked, “But how do I start? I don’t have a single cent to my name.”
I took out 200,000** (a large sum at the time) and handed it to him.

He hesitated, “This is too much, I can’t accept it…”
I said, “It’s just money — what’s more important, that or your life?”
Tears of gratitude streamed down his face.
When I looked again, the 𝐺𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡 𝐺ℎ𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝐼𝑚𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒 behind him had already vanished without a trace.
He promised, “I absolutely won’t kill myself!”
Later, when I returned to Taiwan, I heard that a nameology expert had become well-known. Many people sought him out to change their names. He even appeared on TV, with clients as numerous as fish in a river.
When I heard this, I quietly recited, “How wonderful, how wonderful.”

在問事之中，偶一抬頭，看見一「無常大鬼」走了進來，這「無常大鬼」跟定了一位寒士。
我這一瞥，便知道事有蹊蹺，便叫那位寒士先到一旁，等我問完事，再與他談談。
我問完了事，屈指一算，便知一切。
我問：
「你想自殺？」
寒士答：
「盧師尊，你果然高明，你如何知道我想了幾天，天天就為自殺之事，輾轉難眠？」
我說：
「你身後，有一無常大鬼，就等著你自殺後，帶你入地獄。」
寒士聽了，心中大駭。
寒士告訴我：他原是一名老師，但被學校因故辭退，從此就失業了。
與友人做小本生意，把大半生的儲蓄，全投了進去，想不到經營失敗，全賠光了。
於是，家中一貧如洗，上無片瓦遮身，下無立足之地，日無隔宿之糧。
妻子與好友私奔。
這位寒士，無一技之長，非常窘困。
只在燈下痴呆呆發愣，仰天長嘆，徒喚奈何，心中一陣難過。
寒士寫了一首絕命詩：
時衰運蹇度日難，妻投他人作笑談；
天地雖大無立地，死念已出因貧寒。
他已經準備自殺了，聽說，盧師尊（盧活佛）能知過去未來，便過來一問，回去後，便準備上吊自盡也。
我告訴他：
「你命不該絕！」
寒士問：
「我還有未來嗎？」
我說：
「你忘了，你以前學過姓名學及拆字，何不幫人改名及拆字，這樣也可糊口。將來你也有二次婚姻，命中猶有一子一女呢！你的未來有小康之命，如何可以輕生？」
寒士面露喜色：
「盧師尊神算真準，姓名學及拆字，昔日確實玩過，如今已荒廢，如何是好？」
我說：
「我再傳你米卦如何？」
「好！」
寒士又說：
「那如何開張？我現在身無分文矣！」
我取出二十萬，那時候的二十萬已不少，我交給寒士，我說：
「你拿去開相命館之用，將來若賺了錢，到時候再還給我。」
「這二十萬，不太好吧！」
我說：
「身外之物，你的命重要？還是二十萬重要？」
寒士感激流淚。
我再一看他的身後，那「無常大鬼」早已遁去無蹤。
寒士說：
「絕對不自殺！」
後來，我回台灣，聽說有一位姓名學的專家，非常有名，很多人給他改名，他還上過電視，請他改名的人，如過江之鯽。
我聽了，口念︰「善哉！善哉！」
